Technically the city of St George incorporated on November 23, 2019. The new city will operate at a 16 million dollar surplus from day 1 yet won't be able to provide services

I don't think there will be anything with damages, but more so discussion on the taxes taken the last handful of years but I'm not an attorney.

So who will the City of Wonder Bread blame now when they can't blame EBR leadership?

You’ll be ok if you live in a good neighborhood now. That was the fear tactic the status quo was promoting to garner support.

Who will shite arse Baton Rouge blame for not having the tax revenue to provide services for the people in city limits without stealing from unincorporated areas?

Certainly not those responsible.

“White flight”, despite StG being racially mixed and the fact that they were never in BR to begin with.

The “white flight” thing is hilarious. So it’s “white flight” by people living exactly where there were?

All the people saying “white flight” are just trying to stir up shite.

There appears to be some Karens in the crowd that just want to argue with the transition team.

They keep bringing up other cities of comparable size to wreck the budget, but unless you know which services cities provide to their citizens you can’t compare.

For instance SG won’t be providing parks, recreation, EMS, library, Mosquitto and rodent control, or utility services. Wr get those services from the parish or from private companies.

Which is why such a change was feasible to begin with.

City of BR offers no services to StG.

The parish offers most services to StG and they are not leaving the parish.

Water, gas, and a number of other utilities are all private rather than municipal.

Policing is handled by EBRPSO

Fire is handled by St George FD and Eastside FD.

StG, OTOH, was having tens of millions swept into the general fund to pay BR’a bills such as BRPD and BRFD’s budget for areas that they don’t service.
