This small school, with around 120 students, sent a team of 10 players to the State Basketball Tournament and took on Louisville Manual, a school of around 1,800. And they did it just like in the movie Hoosiers . . . they slew Goliath, 58-52 to win the state championship.

This is exactly what I envisioned when I misread the title and yet I still felt compelled to click the thread

I worked in eastern Kentucky for 3 years.
The early 20s girls are gorgeous.
Think Ashley Judd.
But, if they don't end up with at least upper middle class guy, they age badly due to booze and drugs.

They would be right at home on the OT.

Manual is one of the bigger schools in Louisville.

Cuba was runner up the year before. My mother lived the experience. My aunt was the Cuba prom queen that year. Not much remains. There is however a BBQ restaurant (Southern Red's) in Pilot Oak that was the general store where everyone gathered to listen to the games that remained. One of ball players lived right next door. This same player became the principal of Callaway County HS.
The author rewrote and retitled the book. The Graves County Boys.
