It’s honestly a bit concerning. It’s going to be so easy for china and Russia to frick with us with (ai) edited videos.

The fake towing show on TV - most of the "victims" were members of SAG.

You think it’s bad on the OT? Try the poli board.

They aren't mutually exclusive, some of us are idiots on BOTH boards.

Dude when they post an article from a known satire site and get all upset is amazing.

Many ask, "does this conform to my worldview?" and accept it as true/real if it does.

I mean a lot of the NPC talking points likely originate from both places

used to be a pretty big trashy reality TV junkie until I realized most of all these storylines are staged, fake.

Letterman called it out 25 years ago. He pointed out that the fat guy had been on the island 6 weeks and never lost one pound.

for some reason I get these clearly fake/AI pictures on my FB feed, like "some kid just created this thing lets show him love" and the comments are all old people

but then I question whether or not the profiles are actual people too

and then I just close app and go outside and don't touch it for a week

Just admit you thought the hammock on the bus video was real.

Dude, I am a 56 year old, early Gen X white guy I ordered vinyl from Columbia House not because it was nostalgic but because that's what we fricking listened too. I was around for the invention of the Walkman, the CD player, the MP3 player and eventually this shite show. I built my first "real" computer from parts ordered from Computer Shopper and plugged into it a 1200 baud modem. I played the original Leisure Suit Larry sitting at my desk at my first job. I logged onto NFL.com the day it went live. I was in Yahoo chat rooms before the term Bot had become commonplace. I rolled my eyes thru the build-up and eventual nothing burger of Y2K.

I stopped believing shite was "real" when USA Today was the most read/accessed source of information on the planet (the actual paper, not the website). I know you are trolling for giggles, but a hammock on a bus doesn't move the needle.

The editors for these shows I think got included into the writers strike settlement in 08 or whenever because they said they created the story from the raw footage. Also I think the producers steer the story by the questions they ask or how they ask them.

Happens all the time. And then the later-in-the-thread crawfishing: "you can't blame me, it's sad that real life is so upside down that this article is actually possible".

How do we know you're even real and not some staged poster?

Is it any different than watching a tv show? It’s all staged yet still funny or sad or entertaining right?
