A company wide email was sent out today.

It basically said: “Our company is strong, but we might lay some people off anyway.”

Not here. We are having trouble keeping people. Tons of openings. I’ve been the only one in my group for almost 8 months now. Helped me get a promotion and bonuses though.

Went through that last year, I managed to make the cut lol. It’s still tough in a lot of industries though

Mine is hiring. OTOH, we received a reduction-in-force notice last year around this time. Proposing an 11% cut of our department. It ended up around 40%, including me. Thankfully (?), I was able to find a spot in another group, same company. But, yeah, overall we are doing widespread hiring.

For those saying there are jobs aplenty, what industry are you in/ what are the minimum requirements to get in the door?

It's a bad statistic how it's calculated. They say unemployment is 3-4%. To me, that should mean 96-97% of able bodied adults have a full time job. We sure as shite know that's not true.
