Biden got it repealed back when he was young, like 100 years ago

Incorrect. The first group of slaves were brought to Jamestown, Virginia in 1619. Even before that, the Spanish brought slaves to St. Augustine, Florida in 1565.

Despite what they say, Virginia is not the south

I don't know what they you refer to, but they are wrong. Virginia is the south, and certainly was the south in 1619.

Have you met someone from Virginia - what in common do they have with someone from Georgia?

Not much

So in order to be from the south, every southern state has to have a homogenous culture? Texans are different from Floridians, both are still southerners. Virginia is the south.

have you met anyone from Virginia outside of Alexandria?

a significant portion of my family is from western Virginia and I can assure you that they, and everyone else there, consider themselves southern.

I don't know the answer to the OPs question but I just wish all those yankees who claim to hate the south would stop moving down here

Laws against interracial marriage in Delaware weren't repealed until 1986. Only Mississippi and Alabama had these laws on their books longer.

That settles it. Because of their racism they must be southern

They still are. Just switched to a different fanatical belief system. Still quite puritanical

If that's how you want to interpret that, go right ahead. According to the federal government, Delaware has always been a southern state. The 1830s saw a lot of violence and rioting in Pennsylvania and New York because of interracial marriages being allowed.

You can literally travel northeast from some parts of Ohio and travel into Pennsylvania by passing through the South.

You can cut West Virginia in half these days as far as being South/North. Right hand side is Charlestown which a lot of people who work in DC live in. It's also the site of John Brown's raid so it's definitely not the south. The norther part of the state has very ethnic heritage. Italian, Slovak, Polish, Irish etc. They are definitely not the the south. Has more of a Pa. feel to it. Plus they are all Steelers fans as well.
You can take that little bottom portion of Ohio, that is nestled between WV and Kentucky and make it the south.
Basically you can't just go by state lines anymore and say this is South, this is North etc. It's changes within the state.
I don't consider Tampa, Miami, Key West the south and that as south as you get.

I met a girls from Delaware once while living in Atlanta.

She was nice.

But that's the only person I've ever met from there.

Come to think of it...I don't think I've ever met anyone from Rhode Island.
