You’re gonna have a very specific target demo to resell it to.

I’ve played with Lincoln Logs a time or two. 7.5/10, would do again. Lots of space for entertaining if you’re fortunate enough to have multiple sets.

Start out small and see if you are still into it.

I watch Barnwood Builders on the DIY Network. That's the extent of my log cabin knowledge. Them boys are good with logs and a chain saw.

Im not talking about your DIY log cabins. There is a builder out of holden i think who has some pretty nice floor plans.

I have family who built one and are still living in it. It was a "kit" house, which many are nowadays, that they built themselves for the most part. Very nice house on nice acreage. I will advise that you do everything you can to keep water away from the logs. Gutters, roofs on porches or decks, keeping it treated or sealed as recommended. These homes are not built of old growth timbers as they were 100+ years ago. They do not weather like old log homes did. You will spend alot of time and money fixing rot if you cannot keep them dry.

Fun Fact: Abe’s Mom was born in a Log Cabin about 3.5 miles from my family’s ancestral property.

After her folks (the Hanks family) abandoned the homestead, our people went up and commandeered the logs of her family’s cabin and used them for another structure down in the holler.

It’s still in the family today.

If the wood is not properly kiln dried, you will have 2" - 4" gaps all through the house.

I live in a log home. Chinked, squared logs, dovetail ends. Mine is a little over 30 years old and I will echo what has already been said about rot. We moved in a few years back and have repaired a couple of sections due to lack of gutters before we moved in. The house has a ton of character though and we’ve had several people ask to host showers, parties, and take graduation/Christmas/etc...pictures here.
