My dad once lost his absolute shite in the car when Piano Man came on. He was always a curser, but this put him in overdrive. I don’t know if he’d ever expressed an opinion one way or the other about any music whatsoever in my life. He let it fly. No a Billy Joel fan. I didn’t ask any questions.

Lol! There is a joke among Joel fans that goes: “for a song about the piano man, the guy in the harmonica won’t shut up”.

Maybe that’s what triggered him.

I wonder why he doesn’t update We Didn’t Start the Fire? Seems like he has so much new material to work with.

Wife and I went to see him and Stevie Nick's in Dallas earlier this year. Still puts on a great show, possibly the best singer-songwriter of his generation.

Fall Out Boy put out a new version recently of this song. I haven't heard it but take it for what it's worth.

Also there are some really really really dumb posts in this thread.

Great Song. More Americans are feeling the squeeze than some us realize. Really captures the despair of the working class in the Rust Belt

I think nailing Elle McPherson for many years is his magnum opus.
