They gave me pills and drink.

Shitted a ton of water. Was dizzy from lack of food & dehydration by the time I arrived for the procedure.

It sucked

That video is about how I felt last week. It wasn't bad, actually felt better after The Purge. I was just hungry as hell the day before. Best part was coming home to half a pan of left over lasagna.

I've done 2 colonoscopies over the years and the taste of the liquid prep is pretty off-putting. Like mentioned, it helps to mix it with something or at least chase it with something you like.

Another suggestion is to get a 3 oz. container of Hygenic Cleansing Lotion. I'd say about 1/2 way through your prep and several visits to the porcelain god, your butthole may be catching fire. This stuff is excellent for calming things down in that area.

I'm sure you've already heard by now that the prep is the worst part, and that is very true. When they put you in twilight for the procedure, they could drive a Buick up your arse and you'd not feel it.

Mother got done with hers, walked over to let the dog out, passed out on the dog, and cracked her front teeth

My wife got a severely scratched retina having a colonoscopy 7 years ago. An injured eye from a doctor sticking a camera up her arse. I asked if they went to far or went in the wrong way...no one involved thought that was funny but I did.

They put her under completely but did not tape her eyelids shut. They partually opened and dried out and when she came out of the anasthesia she was blinking and scratched it. She was in some serious pain and the medical pros thought she had lost her mind until she went to our eye doctor. She still gets pissed when I tell that story and she is present!

For those that don't know, you're not supposed to have those as the dyes can coat the intestinal walls and potentially mask issues.

Does using a bidet regularly help prep you at all?

I have used the Suprep that last couple times. It isn't great tasting but it's doable. The taste thing probably comes from folks that had the colyte. Didn't matter which flavor you got it tasted like sea water. And you had to drink like seemed like 2 gallons. Good times.

The liquid tastes like salt and chemicals and is somewhat basic... it's like greasy almost. I suppose from all the ions in it meant to draw out water into your colon.

It's very very unrewarding.

It's like peeing out of your butt for like ten minutes.

The worst part is not eating.

Make sure to schedule your procedure as early in the day as possible.

meh, I had one a couple of years ago and with all of the hype I'd heard from all of my friends I was expecting something really glorious and monumental, it was a huge disappointment

Same here. I ate a half dozen eggs for breakfast. Started prep at 2. Hit the bathroom at 5:30 and it was all over 15 minutes.

The biggest disappointment was not getting the ultra hot Viet nurse. This young lady was absolutely beautiful.

I don’t know what these guys are talking about. I had the liquid and it was pretty disgusting. To the point that it was taking me so long to get it down that I was chugging it on the toilet. Whoever said the prep was the worst part was 100% spot on. Make sure your spouse has the camera rolling when you wake up from nap time.

My wife had one last year. Doctor nicked some tissue removing the scope. Unfortunately, she had to have a second one 12 hours later to fix what the first doctor had messed up. The ER visit was an extra $28,000. Still fighting with insurance and the doctor to get them to pay. Should have been 100% covered by insurance.

Absolutely.

A colonoscopy is such a non-event. With all of the gnarly medical procedures out there, I don't understand why this one gets so much attention. Just mix your prep with clear Gatorade and go about your business. Excuse yourself a few times to take a few liquid shits. The worst part of the procedure was the nurse giving a lidocaine shot before putting in a picc line. That shite stung and was unecessary. It felt like 2 seconds had gone by once the proprofol started flowing. No after effects whatsoever. I could've gone back to work the same day.

Just had one a month ago. The doctor told me he mixes his prep liquid with beer. I don’t have to go back for 5 years. I’ll try that next time.

It is not that bad trust me. The prep sucks no doubt but you will be ok. Start eating very lightly for about three days makes it much better and then you will not even need all the prep. But do make sure you take enough so they don’t wake you up and say you have to come back because it was to messy to see things.
The actual colonoscopy is actually sweet. They put you on twilight where you may even sometimes be kinda staring out your eyes but you will not remember another thing. You can eat right after fyi. Have something planned. Then after you grab a small bite go get comfy and sleep the rest of the day. Next day you don’t even know it occurred.

I have done this too many times to count and lost 14 inches of my colon.
Here are the pro tips:
*Start eating light 2 days prior
*Clear liquids on day before include gummy bears if you need to chew something..remove red and purple ones...they make clear ones if you can find them.
*use full sugar jello, not sugar free and make your jello with full sugar 7up for the non-boiled part of the liquid ...holds you longer than water.
*baby wipes are a must..aloe, sensative skin kind...dab, don't wipe.
*Get a black coffee in you before your 4am round of fun, or you will miss your caffiene for the morning
*Ensure makes a clear protein product, but it's weird.
*Enjoy propofol....it's 30 mins of glorious dreams and sleep.

My first one is in July. They wanted to schedule it for 11am and I said uhh no way. Find me a day with 8am or earlier. I got the drink. Best advice I’ve heard is do light food 2days before and broth the day before with jello. I joked with my doctor and asked if I could eat Taco bell the day before. She said honey by the time you get here that will be long gone.
