I don't ever want to see it be played in person or school. If adults want to do it they can make their own choices.

It's a game that separates the wheat from the chaff.

We used to play killball in middle school. Like dodge ball but one team throws and the other is against a wall if someone catches the ball the team switches sides. I always enjoyed it.

We played that but don’t remember that name. I think we called that dodgeball. Standard dodgeball was called bombardment for some reason. The only difference was, the standard rule of team with last person wins, but they also put a 2 liter soda bottle at the back of each side and you could automatically win if you knocked the other teams bottle over first.

Slaughterball >>> Dodgeball

Banning dodgeball (along with introducing participation trophies) in schools has directly led to a generation that is mentally weak.
I say this as a GenX’er who grew up as an overweight and not very athletic kid who was usually picked last for games. Learning how to overcome these challenges directly led to me being stronger mentally and emotionally as an adult.

You wouldn't have lasted in gym class in the '80s.

We called it warball and used a volleyball instead of one of those rubber balls. If you threw the ball above the bleachers (around 8 or 9 feet) or if the other team caught your ball then the thrower was out. You could aim at the head but it was more likely to be caught so the smart players usually went for the knees.
I wasn't the hardest thrower but I could dodge and catch so I did alright.

My gym class one year had some basketball dudes that would murder everyone. Coach loved that shite. We found out if you got hit early before they wamed up it hurt less. Those coaches back in the day were bored assholes sometimes now that I think about it.

We played pin dodgeball where we would set up a couple bowling pins in the corners of the gym & the fat unathletic kids would stand in front of them like a goalie. Looking back, I'm not sure why we even did this bc once the pin got knocked over we would just keep assaulting each other like it never happened. I think it was just a way for the coach to target fat children for physical punishment.
Man, those were the days.
