The 12,000-square-foot grocery store is set to open in the fall. Bradford is the general contractor.

Aldi is set to open two other local stores this year: at 2345 O'Neal Lane and at the intersection of Siegen Lane and North Rieger Road, in front of Total Wine & More.

Aldi also has land on O'Neal south of I-12.

Getting a Five Guys too
Drove through the parking lot the other day & there was a paper on one of the doors of the units in the strip mall across from Aldi

Still trying to figure out where the WalkOn’s is going to be

It's nice that people get excited about stores that carry 100% generic brands.

Very close to Aldi. I think it's one of these buildings next to CC's on the map. Knowing Walk Ons, they'll probably have the space right on the corner or pretty close to it. But not sure.

Very good for Central. These are nice amenities to have. I like the Oak Point grocery store BTW. Solid little place.

They also purchased land with plans to develop stores on O'Neal Lane south of I-12, and in Central in the Shoe Creek area.

Fast-growing grocery store chain Aldi has submitted plans to build a location near the intersection of Siegen Lane and Rieger Road and is looking to hire a store manager.

Aldi submitted plans last week to East Baton Rouge Parish officials for a nearly 20,500-square-foot freestanding store that would be next to Total Wine in the Siegen Village Shopping Center. The chain is running ads on its website for a store manager trainee at the Rieger Road store.

Congrats to Central, though.

It's Central. It's the only thing exciting about there besides not having to live in BR proper.

I tried to stop at Subway the other day. As soon as I pulled in the parking spot, a panhandler ran up, tapped on my window, and tried to get me to roll my window down. I just started the truck back up an drove off.

More store options for consumers is a good thing. Don't want the generic brands, go to the store next door.

Didn't know that place closed.

Carters survived but Winn Dixie didn't....
