For context I'm currently in the process of applying to medical school, and one of the questions on my application was asking for me to state whether I'm gay or not. Would you put down that you're gay even if you're not if you think it'll help you get in? Curious to see what y'all think

ETA: I didn't explain it well. It's not a yes/no question, it's just asking for me to state what my sexuality is

Does the school have a D.I.E. department? If yes, then absolutely it will help you with admission.

This will, in no way, ever come back to bite you in the arse.

I had to fill out a diversity form yesterday to be set up as a vendor asking if our owner was trans or gay

I'm officially a non binary Hispanic person with she/her pronouns on my work profile.

ALWAYS identify yourself as a minority or marginalized group. It's like an express pass at Disney and is completely subjective.

Isn’t asking this question on a job interview illegal?

Check "Yes". If you get called on it, just say you are gender fluid and identified as gay when you filled out the application. You identify as straight now.

My wife’s mother was born and raised in Kingston, making my son 1/4 Jamaican.
You better believe I have been checking African American on every doc we fill out.

Also, via Google, I have checked minority owned and trans for my business ownership, which I believe helps me in the rankings. Can’t prove it though.

You should write in: I consider myself to be a happy person, so "yes."

But Jamaica isn’t in Africa. It’s not even close.

That's the beauty of it. They can't tell you how you feel and if they do, they know they'll have trouble on their hands.

I take offense that they think they can reduce human sexuality to a “gay/not gay” yes or no question. These people must still be living in 2012.
