1. How old were you?

2. How has it improved your life?

Thanks

had a 65ish year old neighbor get it. He's a pussy, should've just put him out of his misery.

My dad did at around 60, helped big time. Can still dance somewhat. He's 68 and still hunts, does carpenter work, etc.

Is better than having daily pain.

One of our clients had one that got infected and had to be taken out. He was bedridden for a couple of months, gained 70 lbs and is learning to walk again.

My mom had 1 done and had no issues.

My dad had one done about 10 years ago no issues.

Had the other done about 5 years ago, had a blood clot that caused a stroke the next day in the hospital. Had little to no use of one side of his body and wound up in a wheelchair. He passed away this year, but told me multiple times he wished he would have died when he had the stroke. I believe he was 65 when he had the surgery.

Omg yes. Only thing is get it done late in life because 10 years later you will def need to replace other knee. Do it. Therapy is tough but at 3 months all good.

My pops just had his done in April. 66 y/o. Dramatically improved his gait and relieved some pain in his other knee.

I work in medical devices in Memphis and interact with a lot of joint surgeons. I highly recommend a Stryker knee (Triathlon) with the doc using Mako. My dad saw Jared Braud (who I went to school with at LSU). He did his fellowship at Cleveland Clinic and was top shelf in doing my dads knee. Would highly recommend.

Most of the top systems from Zimmer, Stryker, DePuy and Smith and Nephew will all perform similarly. Mako (Stryker) and Rosa (Zimmer) robotic systems have improved an already great success rate in total joint replacement, with Mako being the top of the line. Regardless of what system you get, make sure your surgeon has implanted many of the knees that he/she is putting in you (minimum 50 I think). You want to make sure that they have ample experience in that system. Doctors will switch companies that they use and you don't want to be patient #4 or something with a "new" knee for a surgeon.

My 79-year-old wife had a full knee replacement eight months ago. After a couple of months of physical therapy her motion was 100%. No pain at all.

I work in a joint replacement surgery center all day. Best advice I can give is find someone who knows what they’re doing. A surgeon is no different than a mechanic. Some are good, some suck.

One personal experience. A colleague has knee replacement because of pain in 2012. He was a runner. Ran 3-5 miles on weekdays and more during the weekend. Had a knee replacement and never got to 74% mobility or whatever it was as a baseline, and was suffering some discomfort. He goes back in and his body/bones has rejected the hardware. He has to have a second replacement surgery. The second surgery takes, but it was a 3-4 year ordeal. I'd take that into consideration because he was in his early 60's and robbed him from what he liked to do for 3-4 years. He said he wouldn't do it again. This is one experience and not my own. I think it was Stryker hardware for his knee.

Bet your friend didn’t do therapy right. If you half arse therapy you will pay for it.

Got it done at 60 and definitely would do it again.

Full mobility without pain is wonderful.
