Per Kiran Chawla

Unfiltered with Kiran is learning new details into the shooting death of 21 year-old Allison Rice, a senior at LSU.

Multiple sources say Rice was shot about 10 times in the early morning hours of Sept. 16th around 2:20am and died on the scene.

Officers found the scene when they responded to a call for “shots fired” from a nearby shot spotter that picked up 10 rounds fired. Evidence on the scene included multiple shell casings. Plus, her vehicle had several bullet holes.

An autopsy reveals Rice’s cause of death was a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds. Rice took several bullets to her arm and chest area.

Sources say they have now confirmed Rice was in fact waiting for a train to finish crossing on Government St. when she was shot. She had just left an establishment in mid-city, which is why she was on Government St. headed eastbound.

In fact, officials found fast food in her lap and evidence that she was eating fries as she was shot.

Multiple sources say they have not found any evidence of a robbery or an attempted robbery. For now, it does not appear that this was a mistaken identity case. Several sources have said investigators are truly at a loss to determine the motive behind this particular shooting.

Rice was a marketing senior at LSU. She worked at the Shed BBQ on Burbank along with her two brothers.

Not sure if you saw/heard this yet
https://www.wbrz.com/news/nearby-camera-captured-audio-of-lsu-student-s-killing-about-a-dozen-gunshots-heard-in-new-recording/

It’s a recording of the gunshots and the train. The image says file photo. Do they have footage or just sound recording? My guess is actual footage and they aren’t releasing it?? Either way, is that her car waiting at the tracks in the still photo?

Witness to LSU student’s death: “Still somewhat in shock realizing what happened”

quote:

“Someone is dead and me being the only witness could easily help figure out who did it or why they did it. I mean it would make Baton Rouge safer to have someone who killed someone off the streets. It didn’t seem like a concern to BRPD to hurry up and get back in touch with me. It just makes Baton Rouge feel unsafe.”

quote:

“They need to do better. With this specific case, with me and my friend being the only witnesses there, it was very shocking to me that when I called BRPD Friday morning, the person told me she couldn’t help me and she would transfer me,” said the witness. “When I got a hold of someone, they told me he was an assistant and that someone would call me back. Hours went by and no one called me so I called Crime Stoppers. They took down the information and I never heard from anyone again.”

quote:

Friday afternoon, the witness and his family reached back out to BRPD when he finally got a hold of someone.

I think this answers the question about whether BRPD is interested in finding the murderer or not.

Could this have been a gang initiation or a hate crime?

I can assure you this was a crime of opportunity. Could of been gang initiation or a hate crime. I also can guarantee you the gun used was NOT registered at least to the perpetrator.

If that was my daughter, you can bet your arse that I’d be finding out the train schedule and setting up a trap for the POS responsible.

“Who done it’s” are hard in general, not just for BRPD. With these types of cases, phone records of the victim are useless. Doesn’t matter if she’s having issues with anyone. Have to get lucky. Hopefully the suspect(s) touched the vehicle leaving contact DNA and/or latent fingerprints. NIBIN may be able to help but not likely. Also have to hope camera footage is able to aid. Short of any of those happening, have to hope for a tip. Whoever did this has talked about it.

They probably do. However, with it occurring at night and my assumption that the suspect(s) were on foot, those cameras will likely only show what occurred. Have to hope there are other cameras that caught them prior to or after to show where they came from or went

ETA, I’m assuming they’re on foot, because I’d imagine there would be some type of leak or release for a suspect vehicle if there was one.

Aubrerry was national news for “being out for a jog”

Why is this not national news for “just driving home after getting dinner”?
