who didn't do that kind of stuff? I did a lot worse when I got older. I'm surprised I lived looking back.

I think the point is that it's rare seeing kids doing this today.

That’s my childhood for sure. There must have been 3/4 ramps going in my neighborhood at any given time.

We used the sidewalk as the approach and landing. it made it easy to measure how many squares you cleared.

A missed landing was a bitch though.

I used to build ramps all the time in my front yard. My father would look at them and laugh. We had ramps everywhere in my neighborhood. Nobody ever thought about it,

women who live in suburbs don't let their kids do anything anymore. add in the modern surveillance state and it's way harder to frick around and do slightly bad kid shite (not that this is bad at all).

inner-city and country kids still have some freedom.

The ramp in the tweet is a modern marvel compared to what we used.

Cinder blocks
Discarded pieces of plywood
Metal barrel lids
Junk tires

Someone’s dad even let us have the metal slide from a dilapidated swing set. Whatever we could find.

A couple months ago I put a half a sheet of OSB at the curb. 5 minutes later the kids up the street had made a ramp with it. One of them broke his arm on it though lol. I been seeing the neighborhood kids steal peaches off of my tree on my camera for the last week. Makes me laugh. Good to know kids are still out there being shitheads.

I remember in the 90's in Monroe the city workers along with the police came through neighborhoods dismantling all makeshift bike ramps after a kid broke both legs...

We eventually put boxes down to jump. Didnt really do much to soften the fall.

Losing a front wheel on the ramp will cause you to reflect on your sinful ways though.

Yep. Had that been some Karen instead of a dad, she would have shut that down and went knocking on doors to find out who gave the kid the rake in the first place.

I wonder how much a broken arm, leg, or any other typical kids ER visits costs now vs 1977 on average, in real dollars

I wouldn’t be shocked if that was a factor
