What do you mean? In Nate's only full season with them they finished 9th and lost in the first round.
And then he was fired the next year.
They bring in Quinn Snyder specifically to tame and develop Trae, and Trae is on the block a year later.

McMillan went crazy and would have quit if he weren't fired. With Gayle as owner, someone like Trae Young maybe the only hope to save us from Pastor Willie.

We started winning clutch games when BI was hurt and there was a clear hierarchy of who the ball was going to. We don’t need another clutch player, we just need a guy who doesn’t demand the ball and is OK being a number two. Specifically one who shoots 3s primarily and fits in with Zion.
If you say it, it has to be true.
5 clutch games since BI went down, and we were 3-2 in them.
We were 6-5 in clutch games after Christmas up until BI got hurt.
But go ahead and just say what you think you see.

Im not getting in a pissing match with you because it just muddies the whole thread.

The nuggets offense falls apart when jokic leaves. Why do you think that is even with Murray?
the Bucks offense falls apart when Giannis leaves too.
what a stupid take.
Murray is a legit #2. There's no argueing about it. They won the fricking championship with him, and did nothign the two years before when he wasn''t playing.
You can think CJ is a similar guy, but what you do in the playoffs matter, and Murray has proven himself in the playoffs to be a winner.
26 ppg, 7 apg, on 40% shooting from 3 and 93% from the line last year.
Stop acting like anybody can do what he did.

The next time Willie signals elbow for the 8th play in a row while Zion is getting his head taken off without a whistle and Herb is sent to the bench for breathing on a player, I want a point guard like Trae Young to tell Willie to stick his elbow up his arse. Tame is the last thing this freaking team needs.

How are stats opinion based?
I love how y'all just ignore all these stats i'm throwing at all of you.
Go ahead and keep believing what you think you are seeing.
And again, i want to trade BI.

I'm so confused. So was it the mediocre season or possibly driving your coach to madness that makes trading all of our assets for him so appealing? What did he do that was so impressive and why would that save us?

There are a lot of people on here that clearly don’t actually watch Trae Young play basketball. It’s not that he’s a bad defender, it’s that he might be the worst defender in the entire league. Opponents had a 121.6 ORtg whenever he was on the court this year. That’s horrendous. That’s 2pts worse than Cam Thomas and equivalent to Jordan Poole who played with much worse defenders around him.
The Hawks have spent years trying to surround Young with defensive guys, yet have only had a defense outside of the bottom 3rd of the league once. Here is their team DRtg in the years since Young has been drafted:
28

18
26

You have to do so much to help him that it severely limits what schemes you can run and who you can play on that end.
I’m not going to act like he’s not a talented offensive player because he is, but he is still being overvalued on that end. As already been pointed out, he’s a ball stopper that wants to be THE guy. That’s the issue, you can’t run a system with him because when he plays he IS the offensive system. He racks up assists because he doesn’t pass the ball unless it’s a pass that can get him an assist.
Now he is very talented, and playing this way can still lead to a pretty good offense most years, but I just don’t see how his limitations (on both ends) fits at all with a guy like Zion. It feels like we would be right back to having a team that’s less than the sum of its parts. Just this time with less assets and worse contracts

Initially I was making a joke, but i firmly believe that Willie Green was awful this year. And I also believe that Gayle Benson has no intention of ever replacing him.
As for Trae Young, he has many flaws. But he is a significantly better basketball player than Brandon Ingram and provides playmaking abilities that can make Zion more effective off the ball while still having the ability to play off of Zion.
I also think that while Trae and CJ can't be a starting backcourt, they could do some serious damage the way Curry and Poole used to.

I said Trae wasn't my preference, there's a few guys I'd want before him.
But if we're solely talking about BI or Trae, I don't think it's up for debate, Trae is clearly the better player and would also be better for this team than BI. Again, I don't even get how folks would debate that at this point. I get and understand all the Trae flaws, don't even disagree with most of them. But he is still clearly and obviously better than BI, and also would still fit with this team better than BI going forward.

I think getting someone like Shaedon Sharpe and a rim protecting/athletic big should be the priority.
BI couldn't net half the guys you listed.

Why would Portland want to do that? They aren't trying to compete I don't think

Well i believe they're stuck with Simons, and they just drafted Scoot. So they have 3 young guards for 2 spots. BI and Jerami don't make sense together though.
BI really doesn't make sense for a lot of teams. What contender do you think would want BI to take up a large chunk of their cap?

Sac woukd have traded him a couple years ago after the season he struggled but moved Haliburton instead.
I think Griff really wanted him but didn’t want to trade BI at the time to get him. Now I’m sure Sac would laugh at him.

The only one I can think of would be Cleveland which is why that’s who I mostly look at for a trade.
The other team I think would be REALLY interested in BI would be Detroit, and I think they would overpay to get him just to try to pick up some extra wins.

Trae has been better than Zion, what are you even doing right now?
Zion had a great 15 game regular season stretch, go ahead and crown him if you want. Trae was doing that and more int he playoffs, dragging his team to the conf finals. Zion has yet to drag his team to the playoffs. This is an absurd idea that Zion to date has ever been better than Trae Young at any point.
It's hilarious that you think it's not even close.
Taken their team to the playoffs- Trae
Healthier and can be relied on to be available - Trae
Who has produced more when playing - Trae
Who has made an All NBA team - Trae
You still haven't even addressed how badly you botched the lineup thing thinking that Jose would have to start if we got Trae and not Trey Murphy.
