We would have Anthony Edwards and not Zion

Or in 2020 we could have taken Maxey instead of Kira Lewis

Bitch bitch bitch.

We have had extraordinary luck of not only winning the lottery but in years where there is a perceived generational player at the top.

Ask Toronto what happens when you win the lottery and there isn’t a clear top tier guy to go first.

I don’t think it was even a guarantee that Ant would have been drafted if we had that pick. If I remember correctly, he wasn’t a consensus #1 pick like Davis and Zion were. He surely wasn’t billed as a generational talent coming out of college like Z was. Hindsight is 20/20(50/50 if you’re Cam Newton) of course, and Edwards turned out great, but it was far from a guarantee at the time.

This could be a crazy take, but even knowing what I know now, I would still take Zion over Edwards if I was drafting today.

That’s not crazy, that’s just ignorant. Please explain your reasoning? I’m genuinely curious on how you came up with such a flaming hot take.

First off, frick you. Secondly, it’s just my opinion. I simply think Zion’s ceiling is higher than Ant’s. Assuming health,(a huge assumption I know) I believe Zion, based on talent level, can be a top 10 all time great. I see Edward’s as a great player and maybe a Hall of Famer, but not a top 25 player of all time.

If only we said screw Jrue’s feelings and traded him to Minnesota for their #1 pick we could have Zion and Ant

We need to tank for 2025

Why so hostile? I think we have a big enough sample size to realize Zion’s health will always be an issue. ANT has a proven track record and is only getting better. There is no way Zion will be a top ten of all time. I’d be happy with him being a top ten player of this year.

Hes been great this year but befire this year he had lost in the first round. What proven track record are you actually talking about? I love ANT but you’re extremely caught up in the hype if you’re saying he has a proven track record of some sort.

I apologize for the hostility, but something I said being called “ignorant” riles me up a little. Being a prisoner of the moment and watching the Wolves beating the Nuggets arse so far, I can understand thinking it’s all Ant, but let’s looks at career stats:

PPG: Edwards: 22.9 points, Zion: 24.7
Reb: AE 5.2 . Z: 6.5
Assts: AE 4.1, Z: 4.1
FG%: AE 45%, Z: 59%
Blocks and steals about the same.

ANT has averaged nearly 23 pts in his career and played a minimum of 72 games per season. Thats a pretty solid record in my opinion.

In 4 years. This the first time they even got out the first round. Thats not called a proven track record. Hes a great talent, he’s ascending and right now is better than Zion. But he basically doesn’t have any kind of record in my opinion.

If Griff made both of the moves I suggested at the time on here we’d be setup. Drafted Garland and traded Ball for Lauri.

There would have been no need to trade for CJ or for Graham. We’d have extra firsts back to boot.

Zion has to expand his game, I’ll take ANT simply cause he can score from any spot on the floor
