I think he is. Hes just small. He rebounds and stays in position but hes so small it doesn’t matter. Hopefully he puts on weight this offseason.

It doesn't matter if you score 20 points if you're giving up 21.

It sort of does when you play guys like Dyson at times who may give up only 10 points but score 2.

Dyson, Jose, and Naji should be the ones losing minutes, not Hawk

The 1st quarter is a pretty perfect representation of the answer.

The simple answer is Hawk falls for fakes and vet moves horribly late in the shot clock and bails out the opposing teams WAY too often. It wouldn’t even be too bad if he gave the effort he gave in preseason and and early in the season. He lowered his defensive intensity over the course of the season

But it was Hawk CJ Trey Naji JV lineup that did amazing. Hawkins was a plus 15 tonight. If anything maybe I was wrong in saying Jose and Naji but I can definitely see him stealing minutes from Dyson especially if hes that effective in the lineup.

yeah, Dyson can be somewhat of a black hole offensively from time to time... you'd expect that offensive output to increase at this point in his career, but not so much

Hawkins needs to and also deserves to get some minutes based on his play and role in the future of this team.

With that being said, I don’t think he should get a lot of minutes at the moment. 7-10 min a game. However, as we all know, an 82 game season is a marathon. Hawk will get a lot of minutes for stretches, just like he did earlier while CJ, Naji, and Jose were out. Guys will be out again this year and he’ll play. He needs to take advantage of those spots and work his arse off in getting stronger in the meantime.

If he barely plays again this year (worst case scenario for him); based on the significant playing time he had already and opportunity to continue to play in spurts while building his body up, I think it would be a valuable rookie season.

Hawk’s time will come. In the meantime, as long as we win, I’m chill.

Yea It sucks for the rookie but if we keep winning and continue to shoot at a good level, hard to argue with the results.

Question of the day...Would you prefer

1. Hawkins/Dyson as they are now

or

2. You get to choose to snap a finger and combine the offense/defense of each player to make 1 player but you don't get to choose which combo you end up with. So basically, it's 50/50 whether you get Hawk offense/Dyson defense or Hawk defense/Dyson offense.

Well hawk offense and dyson d is an All star. I'd take my chances and go for it

Same

Downside is 50/50 you basically lose both players, but agree that it's worth the risk.

Or you could bank on Dyson becoming an average offensive player and Hawk an average defender, then you'd have two really good players you don't have to break the bank for.

I'd ride it out unless you told me they have no shot at improving their weaknesses.

The fact that Willie thinks Dyson and Trey should battle for minutes is strange to me. Trey is by far the more superior player despite some defensive lapses.

I think that Trey's minutes have been gradually increased as he's gotten more comfortable and puts the injury further in the rearview mirror.

I'd actually bet that Trey starts tonight.

Zion is probably going to play so I doubt Trey is starting tonight.

Did Willie say something? I thought he was still questionable?
