Don’t give a frick if we have to attach picks with it. BI wants out, we want out and Murray wants out. frick it I’ll take BI for a used Gremlin.

I want this but I keep hearing they would rather trade Trae. If they trade Trae, Im not sure they would trade Murray.

I don’t like Trae. His great scoring is negated completely by his complete lack of willingness to play any form of defense.

I dont fully agree with that but I dont think Griff and this team will like Trae- so it doesn’t matter. I agree Dejounte is the cheaper and better fit but I just dont know if Hawks will trade both.

So basically the same as BI and CJ on defense?

If you are trading BI for Dejounte, what's your plan for CJ

Bench guy. Limit his minutes so hopefully he stays fresh anf performs better in playoffs.

I don’t see CJ having much trade value is the problem. Moving him to the bench would be a bad look for the team also so it’s a great point but at the same time he’s not a PG and we have to find a true lead guard to play with Zion and Trey.

I think they’ll sell it as CJ is sacrificing his starting role to do whats best for the team like leaders too. They’ll sell CJ as a sacrificial savior and in all honesty its probably the best role for him this stage in his career.

BI for Murray+Okongwu works salary wise. Could make some sense for both teams.

Murray/Trey/Herb/Zion/Okongwu with CJ/Jose/Naji/Larry off the bench, with Dyson/Hawkins trying to earn more minutes. I kind of like that roster.

Can CJ become just a catch and shoot guy with a good point guard??

You know whats crazy at the deadline we wouldn’t trade Herb for Murray ( probably still wouldn’t) and now we’re shipping BI off in this deal. I actually like this deal but man things change really quick. It’ll be interesting to see if Griff agrees to this or if Hawks even want this after BI flaming out. Watch them say well we rather have Herb.

30 million bench guy on a 1 year contract.

Wouldn't you be better off attempting to trade him for a younger player or players?

Good luck finding that. Hes an aging 30 mill player who plays bad defense and has sucked in the playoffs. Why would someone give you young players for that?

I think he has more value being a leader and vet scorer off the bench for us. If anything Zion and him have bonded a lot more than Zion and BI. And hey if he increases his value- see if you can trade him at the deadline.

He still has 2 years

I don't know how much value he has across the league, but yeah I mean if we could get some sort of value back we should consider it, if we do a deal for Murray.

Any Atlanta trade starts with Herb

I feel he's more replaceable as a defender than as a leader and standard setter. I'd be pretty hard pressed to trade him. That being said, the more I think about Murray, the more he seems like a good fit at PG and that seems like a lot harder position to fill than 3 & D Wing.

PG Skills - Check - Nearly 3:1 carrer Ast:TO ratio, #11 in drives per game this year with Trae his back court mate being #8. Zion was #7 and Ingram was #23.
2 Way Player - Check even though he's more guard defender than wing defender
3 Point Shot - Check. He's not good, but good enough and has shot a good volume in Atlanta.
Good Rebounder - Check, he was a fantastic rebounder with the Spurs, Josh Hart good according to the advanced stats
Doesn't think he's #1 - Check
Not on a max contract - Check

The problem is you probably don't want to play Murray and CJ together and in this scenario you've traded away Herb. I don't think most are confident in Dyson as a starter yet and Hawk would have the same issues as CJ. Even if you also get a center from the BI trade like Allen or Okungwu, that still leaves you a starting caliber 3&D wing to add if Dyson can't take a step up.

Agreed. It’s what’s best for the team. We can still use his shooting with Zion but he can be a 6th man of the year and still score plenty of points. And it’s been stated, don’t think he has much trade value. I still question Griff giving him that extension. Just another stupid move added to the pile under his tenure.

They aren't going to trade Herb under almost any scenario. Its not even worth discussing.

if BI/parts/pick(s) can't get you Dejounte they will look elsewhere

No chance I’m trading Herb. Not on that steal of a contract plus he’s the engine that makes the team go with his defense.
