I saw him in Chicago in 2017.. tiny dude, unless he had some other underlying health issues can't believe he died of a heart attack at 61.. Shellac just announced a few shows booked this summer like a day or two ago

He was talking shite about the Rolling Stones and Trump on social media yesterday.
I read somewhere today that he had a heart attack years ago.
He made some great albums. Rid of Me and In Utero are two of them. Just basic, hard hitting records

He's responsible for so many great records... honestly, can't think of anyone who comes close...

Requiescat!!

Hell, I'm not a Bush fan by any means, but Greedy Fly is just a great sounding record. He really knew how to make guitars and drums sound good.

Sad. too young. He made some of my all time favorite records as a producer, and as a musician with shellac.

One of my favorite shellac tracks…

I loved the way he recorded drums. The drums on his shellac records are so good.

Sorry, I was specifically speaking about records that I really like (should have been more clear)... I guess someone could make that argument for RR, but it wouldn't be me..

Have a new album coming out soon
Steve is a legend. Thankful for his many, many contributions. He was big presence in Chicago, seeems like all my favorite bands from the area recorded at his place.

Sounds like he died with his dignity intact.

The Failure documentary has several scenes of him and Ken Andrews (another excellent producer in his own right) experimenting like mad scientists in the studio while recording Failures debut album Comfort in like 1992 was always fascinating to me.

Loved me some Shellac too.
