The Band actually recorded it much better.

Imo

Levon's voice was unbelievable.

The "whole" Band ( ) was talented AF, although Levon was probably their not-so-secret weapon.

Band fans rag about “the closeups of Robbie” in The Last Waltz. I may have mentioned this before, I do good to remember 5 minutes ago these days, but Levon owned the damn screen every time the camera was on him in that movie. Not just musically, his presence. The guy had Oscar-level chops as an actor. Check this scene out. He’s electric, absolutely crackling.
