Can't remember which was my first cd, but it probably was sometime in 1992 or '93.
I am still buying cd's as of now. I still have a cd player, I still use it. Last one I bought was Survivor "Vital Signs" last month.

1st - Pearl Jam, Vs
Last: Randy Rogers Band, Rollercoaster (maybe?)
Toward the end of my CD usage I was illegally downloading shite from Napster and Limewire and burning them to blank CDs more than I was buying them.

My first CD player was a portable sony in 1987 and bought 4 discs. Not very many Cd's available then unless you made the trip to Tower Records in New Orleans.
1. Cult - Electric
2. U2 - Joshua Tree
3. Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
4. Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse
Last
Wilco - Schmilco
bought on a whim.

Cannot remember first CD or cassett, but I can remember my first LP - Kingston Trio (forget which album). Last music I purchased was 3500 doowop songs on a flash drive I purchased on Ebay.

I am 100% sure I bought a CD in 1983 before I even bought a player, anticipating that I'd have one once the price & my funds lined up, which took place 2-3 months later.
I am pretty sure that first purchase was Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms, like others. There were quickly a few others. Now at >3000. (Depending on whether you count a multi album box as 1 title, the number of discs, or the number of original albums it represents, I don't know the exact number.)
Edit: last purchases were in August. The Aristocrats: Freeze! Live In Europe 2020, and Allegaeon: Damnum.

I have Dream Theater's Live Scenes From New York, released on the same day, with the original cover art. It didn't take them long to pull it from the shelves considering the events that occurred.
