if you had cable in the early 80s you watched this every day on Nickelodeon

just discovered it is on Paramount Plus. watched the very first 3 episodes the other day

you dont realize how low budget it was as a kid!

It’s horribly low budget. I have extremely fond memories of this show, but I fear that if I watched it today it wouldn’t hit the same as it used to. So I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it on P+.

I also never realized back then just how long that show was on the air (11 years).

agreed, at least from the first few i watched. my 7 year old liked it though

the one adult on the show, Les Lye, played every adult role- Barth, the prison guard, the executioner, the oddly makeup'd seemingly drunk dad, and the stagehand

I will say though, that if you were to watch episodes I’d imagine they are much better around the mid 80s once the show hit its stride. Those have to be better than the initial ones.

There were various versions of it. It was only in Canada for the first few years before it came to Nickelodeon. It also was a half hour and hour at various times.

The first 2 years it was on in Canada and was an hour. Once it came to the US in 81 it was 30 min.

And like someone else said, skip to season 4 or 5 - it gets better. It’s still just a show for young teens in the 80s so don’t expect any riveting TV.

They could never do it due to licensing issues, but I would kill for Turkey Television to end up on Paramount+.

I loved it in the 80s/90s, and I still love it! Around 2013, I bought the entire series on DVD on Ebay (not from Nick, just some random dude). I rewatched them all that summer. The show was definitely the best between 86 and 90.

There's some YouTube clips of it. I think maybe even a couple of full episodes.
