Has anyone else seen this yet? It’s excellent. I was thinking at the end “what did I just watch?” Pretty incredible story and one of the best documentaries I’ve seen.

In 1998, a Japanese reality show challenged a young man to live naked and alone, surviving off of prizes he could win from magazine sweepstakes.

That guy would’ve definitely chopped some heads off in the 40s.

Watched the trailer.
The guy doesn't know he is in a reality TV show yet he constantly approaches the one camera in the room?
Yeah right.

He knows he's on a show. He doesn't know it's on 24/7 and livestreamed. He's actually the reason that the eggplant emoji means dick. They used an eggplant to cover his junk because he had to win clothes from a sweep stakes before he could have anything to wear.
The cruel part comes later when they trapped him in Korea and made him win the money to get back to Japan.
I've watched several documentaries on this show. What they did to that guy is fricked up.

I’d put a spoilers in there. That part blew my mind.
Also it’s the late 90s so reality tv wasn’t that big back then and yeah he wasn’t aware it was being broadcast to such a wide audience.

It was cruel what they did to him. Haven't seen this documentary yet, not sure I want to.

Just finished it. It has a really uplifting ending, but goddamn, that man is snake bit. How he stays so positive is a mystery.
