Everything about the abduction was horrifying. Absolutely horrifying.

Everything else in this movie sucked.

Ebert said it great. You should have more alien abduction in your alien abduction movie.

I saw this as an under 10 year old.

Scared the absolute crap out of me.

I rewatched this a month or two ago. I hadn't seen it in forever. I still thought it was pretty good.

That's a ridiculous take IMO. The movie is about Travis Walton's story. He was only abducted once, and that whole scene (and subsequent scenes/flashbacks) are incredibly well done.

It's pretty fascinating to see/hear him talk about it. I don't really believe it to be real, but whatever actually happened to him, he certainly seems to believe it was real. Same with people like Bob Lazar. Maybe they are con men, but they come across as completely credible to me despite me not fully buying into that stuff being real.

My cabin in Heber-Overgaard, AZ is less than a mile from the phone booth where Walton called for help after the "alleged" abduction. The phone booth is a popular attraction with tourists.

Why do you have quotes around alleged? Alleged already sort of carries with it that connotation. Seems like abduction would have the quotes around it.

Since you're in the area, what do locals think about the whole thing? I assume they think he's full of shite and probably dislike the attention that came with it?

I would assume that was the case initially but now I would guess most consider it somewhat of a novelty (I did when I first started visiting the area) and you don't hear much about it. The Mexican restaurant that shares the parking lot where the phone booths are situated definitely benefits from a bump in business due to its proximity. .

This was a very very badly acted movie and all the stuff the other loggers deal with was bullshite.

Are we supposed to give a shite about Robert Patrick? I don’t think so. We sure do have to spend a lot of time with him though

But it’s not really showing the Walton story from what I can tell. All the stuff in the movie is add on from what he said which is he woke up and he was being operated on by aliens and humans anf passed out in a hospital like place. Pretty boring compared to what we saw in the movie

Want to make the movie more interesting. Throw in all the stuff about the Walton/Mike gang being known pranksters. Throwin the beat by beat replication of the dateline made for tv movie. Really play into the “are they just doing this to scam over the forestry service?”

Make it dramatic
