Grown Ups

Adam Sandler misses the game winning shot on purpose at the picnic so that the losers could feel good winning.

The ending is great, but the watcher deserves it, because the movie drags in the middle.
Stalag17, which also ends with an escape, also has a great ending, but drags in the middle.

That “ending” is in some ways a cheat, because Vincent was already killed on screen.

A ton of shite happens after the walk out the diner, but it’s still the ending.

I’m not bashing the movie itself, which I love, or QT’s decision to tell the story in a non-linear style.

As you mention, quite a bit of the story happens after the diner….the meeting at the bar, Vincent and Mia’s “date”, the fight, Butch going back to get his watch and the aftermath…which is maybe not the last shot of the film, but the ending to the story.

is it actually good? you essentially just watched nothing. it's like when a show or movie ends with "it was all a dream"

I despise this line of thinking. It's like the ultimate attempt at a thought provoking "Gotcha" but it completely misses the mark.

We are being told a story. Point blank. The fact that the events being relayed in that story didn't actually happen in real life doesn't mean shite. I mean hell...just about any movie ever is telling us a story created by the writers, do we feel the same sense of fakeness about those?

As far as happy endings tho, Big Fish is prolly my favorite.

...except that's not really the ending. Butch and Fabienne riding off on Zed's chopper is.

nvm, I see this has already been covered.

Love its ending. Also like the ending of Casino. Ace ends the movie just where he began it.

I loved the ending of The Natural when I watched it as a kid, then I made the mistake of reading the book in high school and it ruined it for me.
