From the videos I've seen, it's all crowd work. Funny enough once, but he doesn't seem to have an actual act. Will be interested to see if he lasts more than a couple of years. I'm extremely doubtful.

Pretty sure he is looking to parlay it into some acting work.

Crowd work type videos tend to go viral a lot more easily so you probably are only seeing clips from that come into your feed. Idk about him specifically, but theres a bunch of comedians I see in the feed that have plenty of great material but the only thing that catches fire online is telling someone off for interrupting a joke

People love conflict and love yelling about it on instagram

I'd never heard of him. He's pretty entertaining/seems talented.

What's really amazing is that most of the comments are women. I don't think I've ever seen a comedian who generates pages of comments from women on YouTube, all practically begging to be his next victim.

He’s a pretty funny dude. Been following him on TikTok for a while now.

I bought tickets for my wife and I to go in New Orleans, and when I clicked “going” on the shows Facebook page, apparently everyone can see it. 3 different women immediately texted my wife asking how the hell I got tickets. It was pretty easy and straight forward for me, but I learned afterwards that not everyone had the same luck.

Dane Cook was/is funny af. everyone thought so until it was suddenly uncool to think he was funny, and then everyone said they NEVER liked Dane Cook.

So I watched several Rife clips yesterday (3-4 clips anywhere from 5-10 minutes long), and found most of it pretty unfunny. Does anybody have any clips to his actual funny stuff?

Seeing him off-stage killed it for me. His doc series made me dislike him.

But I think that Employee of the Month is an underrated classic.

That explains why I’ve never heard of him and the female fan following. Women be tiktoking!!

It is true. Women love to TikTok.

Yea he has blown up from clips of his comedy club shows. He has a pretty good knack for crowd banter and stuff. He is also very non-pc which I think has helped his fast rise.

I think he is pretty funny. Not sure he is large venue world tour funny, at least not yet, but who knows. He is at least refreshing from what normally passes as comedy these days.

He reminds me of young Cillian Murphy and sparkly vampire Robert Pattinson.

Almost a “pretty” version of a male.

Rife appeals to women, TikTokers, and Wild'n Out fans.

I was just about to say he looks like Cillian Murphy if Cillian Murphy used to be a woman. He has tattoos and takes mirror selfies of his six pack, the TikTok and IG chicks love that shite

He’s popular with women because they find him attractive first and foremost. He’s also decently funny but he’s not putting asses in the seats because of that.

If he looked like Bill Burr they wouldn’t be rushing to buy up tickets

I liked Dane Cook as well but he got stale real quick. He was actually the first comedy show I went to at the UNO Lakefront Arena

He's just marketing a ton on social media with fake articles and posts to give the appearance everyone is talking about him to build hype.

Pretty low level guy but the marketing is obviously working

I like his comedy and so does the wife. If you are a single decent looking dude I would scoop up a ticket. The ladies love Matt Rife and if you got game I bet you could score a lady after that show. Let's just say if I was single I would have had a ticket already

But I ain't

Probably paid because of his new Netflix special.

Does he actually tell jokes? Every single clip I’ve seen is him just being witty with someone in the audience and that’s it.

He has a clip explaining this. Why put his set on the internet for people to see, and then not want to come to a show? Post crowd work, which is unique to each show, and reel you in to coming to see him and watching the set. Actually very smart on his part.
Also, Shemar Moore is a huge fan of him. Says, "Men aren't supposed to be good looking and funny! But this M*F'er is!"
