The big KAT (Karl Anthony-Towns) won it this year. That’s awesome. By FAR the most important award one can win***

I originally thought this was some of The Bee's finest work...UNTIL discovering THIS. SOCIAL JUSTICE AWARD. IS. REAL!

quote:

NBA unveils Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy for annual Social Justice Champion award
The trophy honors Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s legacy and embodies the role of the Social Justice Champion.

Official release

April 3, 2022 3:13 PM

The NBA unveiled the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy for the league’s annual Social Justice Champion award before the Nuggets-Lakers game on Sunday.[

Designed by James Adams Jr., Jason Garrett, Vijay Singh and Lacy Talley, the trophy honors Abdul-Jabbar’s legacy and embodies the role of the Social Justice Champion.

Utilizing Abdul-Jabbar’s commitment to creating an equal and just society, leveling the playing field...

... and ensuring that every child is free to dream as inspiration
,

the structure features a 3-D print of Abdul-Jabbar’s hands holding up these ideals in the form of a basketball-globe, which represents the impact athletes and activists can have to use their platforms and advance social justice globally.

The gold, six-sided base symbolizes harmony and balance while celebrating Abdul-Jabbar’s holistic excellence – both with his six NBA titles and many accolades outside of the game.

smdh

"Commitment to creating an equal and just society"?? What a bunch of garbage.

This is a Total BS Award that symbolizes the Elitism. Divisiveness. Hypocrisy. Phony Virtue. And faux "commitment" of the NBA -- BUT ironically is a true representation of what Jabbar AND this NBA is about.

For not getting upset over some award I've never heard of until today?

Why would I be upset about KAT spending his free time/wealth helping out his community?

I would do the same if I had his resources in my community

yeah, I'm hiding the fact this is deeply upsetting to me. I'm seething over this award.

contrary to your beliefs, this award was not created as a personal attack on you. I doubt anyone that came up with this award even knows you exist.

It would be great if that's what it's actually for. That's why everybody (most people) likes the NFL Man of the Year award, it's usually has something to do with generosity in helping the player's local community.

Read the NBA's own statement on this award; it's about political advocacy, Left Wing conspiracy theories, and buzzwords.
