Quite amazing what Presti did. And to finish in 1st in the tough west is something else. When they didn’t make playoffs last year. Will be interesting if they can get by Mavs. They are so young they don’t listen to the national press say they can’t go far. They play as a team, very rare these days. SGA put up big stats yet deferred so much to help his team and coulda put up way more.

From NBA:

He sure didn’t miss in 2022 draft either

The Thunder are way ahead of the curve. I don’t think anybody would have expected them to be competing like this just yet. Mavericks Thunder should be the best series of the Conference semi-finals.

That Paul George trade gets worse and worse by the day for the Clippers.

I think OKC beats Dallas. The WCF will be a great series between two young athletic teams in OKC and Minnesota.

I would slow down on this. The Thunder are going to be too young to compete against Dallas. Mavs in 6.

Getting Chet and Jaylen Williams in the same draft was absolute masterful drafting. Those guys are so good while being so young an inexperienced. They may not get there this year, but the sky is absolutely limit for this team.

The Thunder really just replaced the era of KD/Russ/Harden just that fast. Kind of unfair really.

Will be interesting. They gave their young legs 8 days off too. Will that help them or maybe the delay hurts? Also, their HC is really good and its his first time as HC to gameplan a series this year. He held NO to 95 or less in 4 straight games - and in high octane NBA thats some solid defense. Even with Zion out, they shut them down.

Mavs will be a tall task as they have bigs that can hurt OKC via blocks and boards. We’ll see if the 8 days rest hurt their momentum tonight.

It’s going to be interesting how the officials are with SGA. His entire game is played like a quicker version of James Harden where his main goal is to initiate contact to try to get fouls.

If they let him get away with it I can see Luka losing his cool which he pretty much does almost every game. But yes the GM for the Thunder should get a raise for what he has accomplished with this franchise.

Don’t they also still have an insane war chest for the next few years too?

Yes. And the “problem” they’ll have is not enough roster spots to use them all to be honest.

This playoffs will tell Presti what he needs. My guess is he learned from dynasty 1 that once your window opens its only lasts so long. First go around he traded prime Harden to keep them under the tax, trying to look at the longer financial picture. Not sure if directed by owner group or not. Ended up costing them a likely title/s plus ticked off KD who was upset about it and left with no return value (which makes his roster building so good in losing a lot when KD walked)

Fast forward and back in the “window”. So, my guess is he looks at someone like Giddy to trade and send a high pick to bring in a vet. No idea who. PG might be a good fit with his 2 way play but he’d have to work with young players plus is aging fast. Just throwing a random name out but it needs to be someone who can balance them out more. Plus some bigs for the bench unit.

TotesMcGotes told me that Shabazz Napier was better than SGA when i claimed he would be an all star after his rookie season

By that token, the Pels board told me OKC wasn’t the best team, just merely the healthiest

They are fun to watch. My concern is playoff experience.. it didn’t mean much against the pels, but the Mavs are on a different level.

It helps to have a really good GM. I look at them as being the model for what the Pelicans should do if Zion forces a trade. Of course, "getting a young superstar in a trade" and "having a really high draft pick when there's an excellent big man available" aren't things that can easily be duplicated.

The last name isn’t the issue, it’s the same (enough) first name combined with the exact same last name.
