Like fans should have any kind of involvement in a team’s coaching selection …

I didn't say they did. I said how fan react when they leave speaks volumes.

Blake Baker leaves Mizzou? Fans are pissed because he was good.
Raheem Morris leaves LA? Fans are celebrating because he wasn't.

See the difference?

The vast majority of fans don't know shite.

If you are basing a coaching hire and how it'll work out based on purely fan reaction, then that's just ignorant.

The defense was gassed and Shanahan shut the bed. Hope SF gets screwed again. Eff that guy.

It is lacklustre for sure, but I think BB would have been meh at best. Just happy they didn't get Harbaugh.

He may have been meh, but fans would have been excited because the hire was meaningful.

Instead, they get token-retread-losing record guy. Fans won’t rush to buy season tickets for this guy.

All that matters is winning. If he wins, they'll come.

No, I'm just pragmatic and don't deal in hot takes, unlike the majority of this place.

He doesn’t have a history of winning.

Why would you think that would change?

“We hired a winner…with a losing record.”

You must be Arthur Blank.

He is a special case where he was clearly hired too young and that was a long time ago, where he's continued to succeed and work under elite coaches since. Had he never gotten that "too early" HC job, he'd have been a white hot candidate for a few years now as an innovative elite coordinator.
