Are we seeing a spike in criminal activity with athletes?

It seems like more and more athletes are doing dumb shite. I’m not talking about weed, rather stuff that results in death, or beating up a significant other, etc.

In a few months, we’ve seen major incidents in the SEC and a coach at Texas.

You have guys like Ja Morant that seem like they are closing in on something idiotic.

Is it the athletes behavior that is changing, or media coverage that makes it seem like more incidents are occurring?

Actually been a fairly quiet off-season for the SEC.

I could tell you why this happens so often but I enjoy posting on this site

Probably not. There’s just a never-ending news cycle and sports media who love a scandal, real or imagined.

Think it got covered up in past. Hard to do that now

But a certain demographic group seems to be causing more and more trouble across country and they happen to often be good athletes

This is the reason for so much of the "this never happen back when" talking about times when it happened more.

I mean, crap is circling the drain but it was doing it in the 70s too. The biggest difference is there was not a national narrative trying to act like it was acceptable. I don't see a Reagan on the Horizon either.

Continued decrease in percentage of families with two parents. No Dads in boys lives end up with higher potential for pure impulse control and a lack of discipline.

Athletes have always been young dumb with too much money and often from shitty backgrounds, they are more empowered now. They're running the leagues with no check or discipline. The idea of controlling or disciplining them is actively frowned on even at college level now

You just mentioned 3 incidents in the span of an entire year, and you're acting as if this is some huge trend?

I suspect his list wasn't intended to be complete.

Maybe it’s because the athletes are more likely to be criminals than ever before.

There are kids from rich families, middle class families and poor families.

Kids with both parents, 1 parent or raised by relatives or someone else.

Kids who were taught to toe the line, some were made to feel entitled and some weren’t taught much at all.

It’s always been that way.

The three I mentioned were in the span of a few months.
