NASCAR dying a slow death

Stewart-Haas Racing's entire building and operation in the Cup Series is said to be on the market. This means Stewart-Haas Racing could be looking to exit the Cup Series completely. As of now, nothing has been reported or changed hands, but the NASCAR team could be on the way out ahead of 2025.

They’ve got one driver competitive and that’s Gragson. Berrys shown flashes, Preece and Briscoe are rarely in the mix. Just not a fan of their driving stable right now.

Briscoe is actually top 15 in points now. Preece has no business being a Cup driver.

Also... Really intriguing what Trackhouse will do with Zane Smith. Do they move Suarez out of the 99? Do they just turn him loose?

I've not been impressed with Zane Smith so far. Carson Hocevar is really making Zane look bad. I can't say cut bait right now, but this whole thing strikes me as a legal obligation from the contract Zane signed with Ganassi right before the Trackhouse sale.

Like Trackhouse is just checking boxes with this. Zane looks in over his head right now.

They are getting a charter for SVG and the 97 next year. That's a given.

Might be a great time for another (new to sport) MNFR to buy it. Get charters plus cars plus infrastructure. Cars are all clown clone cars so all they have to do is change the skin but can use engines and chassis and even keep some top employees.

Maybe Honda buys 2. Runs zombie cars for a year. Rebranded in 26-27 as new manufacturer.

I don’t think any new MNFR would run non branded cars, too expensive to get in for no return. Nascar would want to make a big announcement. They could reskin them pretty easy if done after season. Heck, SHR runs like crap now anyways so they would be able to slowly improve by paying big bucks to get better engineers.

Ford and almost everything affiliated with it isn't a serious organization.

I won't disagree but the guy gets some goodwill from me after that wreak he went through.

SHR selling is so odd. Has Tony lost interest in the sport? Is he cashing out with the charters being worth 40 million each?

Preece is decent on short tracks. He did lead all of stage 1 at Martinsville last year. He is awful on bigger ovals and not good at road courses. He had decent super speedway numbers with worse teams than he is now but his finishes have been terrible with SHR on super speedways.

Tony is all in with NHRA. Even married a driver. He likely doesn’t want the hassle of Nascar while in NHRA. Its evident that Haas also doesn’t want much to do with it either. Which tells me why their teams are doing so bad - you have to constantly invest to be at the top and they are likely not investing at the needed rate.

Rumor from what it sounds like... SHR merges with Front Row. Haas sells his two charters.

I predict their 4 car lineup:

Josh Berry
Noah Gragson
Todd Gilliland
Cole Custer

The numbers would be the most interesting thing.
Custer - 00
Berry - 34
Gragson - 14
Gilliland - 38

I only have Custer because Haas reportedly would sponsor Cole.

Someone tweeted Monday night that Silly Season would get wild.... they were dead on.

Corey Heim running Cup race at Nashville for 23XI.

I think he drives a 3rd car for them next year. He's Cup ready.

He's definitely ready.

He's a local boy. From Kennesaw.

I would not be shocked to see a rookie class like this next year.

Shane Van Gisbergen - Trackhouse 97
Austin Hill - Childress 33
Riley Herbst - Rick Ware 15
Corey Heim - 23XI 67
Sheldon Creed - Legacy 42 (If JHN goes to Gibbs when Truex retires)
Chandler Smith - Gibbs 18 (If JHN stays at Legacy when Truex retires)

Some schedule rumors are starting to surface.

Richmond loses a date to Mexico City

The Clash to Bowman-Gray.

Others to watch.

Charlotte Roval back to the Oval

Iowa may move to Montreal.

Phoenix is expected to keep the championship race

I don't see the Cup series dropping road courses from 5 to 4 next year. I'd like to get back to 6, but what happens with the Chicago street race?

I'm hoping some time in the next 5 years that the Cup series actually goes overseas. Given how it performed at Le Mans, and the recent support of the Aussie/NZ invasion and Kobayashi with Japan, maybe once a year or once a couple of years going to Europe/Australia/Asia.

Bowman Gray will be just as awful as the coliseum. IRP would be better.
