Would you be upset if we reached out to Muschamp?

Let’s assume House does move on after this season. Muschamp is Safeties coach and Co-DC at UGA. Obviously he wasn’t cut out to be a head coach, but the guy knows defense and can recruit his arse off. Not sure he’s want to leave Kirby right now, but he makes 900K currently and we could more than double that. It would be a risk and there may be no connection to coach BK, but what say the rant?

Because the last time we brought back a DC from one of our national championships it worked out so well.

Go get new blood.

I’d take Aranda back. I wouldn’t call him a retread at this point. Just wasn’t meant to be a head coach.

Muschamp has been coaching and recruiting big time football since he left LSU forever ago. No Pelini was at Youngstown state trying to retire and enjoy life

My top 3 candidates would be Geoff Collins, Blake Miller and Muschamp in alphabetical order. Collins and Muschamp may have failed as HC, but they have experience and success as SEC DC’s.
However, I do think the current Georgia DC gets a HC job and Muschamp would slide over to DC at UGA is the more likely outcome.

He would be the definition of a retread.

I loved Aranda here, but instead of trying to recoup the magic that we had with him, how about we instead go out and get the 2023 version of 2016 Dave Aranda.

Yes, he would not be much of an upgrade from what we have now.

I think Aranda, if he’s fired, joins Lincoln at USC.

Boomers son is the Scout team QB at UGA. He isn't leaving until he kid is gone and might not ever.

It’s not the same circumstances. Pelini wasn’t qualified. Muschamp is currently co-DC and safeties coach for the top defense at UGA.

With that said, Muschamp isn’t about to walk away from a dynasty.

I guess it’s his younger son who is a QB commitment at Vandy?
I think Muschamp would fit well as our DC but just don’t see it happening.

Plus I'm not in love with the idea of him coming in and unending the entire front 7 depth chart again just so he can get players that can do specifically what he wants them to do.

Eh. It’s not really that far off. Aranda also liked to run a lot of zone with 2 LBs and a Jack on the edge.

This is exactly correct. More people need to think about the DC hire this way.

We really have no front 7 so new players are coming in anyway.

I wouldn’t be upset at all with Muschamp being our DC.
