Who takes the interim DC job if House gets the boot?

And, if House is fired before the end of the season, the next obvious question is "would anybody working as the interim DC do any worse than House for the last 3-4 games?".
Personally, I'm on the "fire him now" bandwagon. We already know that changing DC's will affect recruiting for next year - better for us if we rip the bandaid off right now and get started on looking for someone.
If changing DC's is gonna lose us any recruits, better for that to happen now when we still have a chance to try and find replacements.
IMO, the worst thing we could do is keep him past the end of the season "just to help with recruiting".
1: It's pretty obvious that he hasn't helped with defensive recruiting so far, and...
2: Why give other schools a chance to negatively recruit us by telling potential defensive targets "do you really want to go there when their defense sucks and they don't know who their DC will be next year?".
Nah, better to make the change now, live with the consequences for this year (would it really be any worse?), and make a start on next year with hiring and recruits.
Also, as others have said, it gives us a head-start on potential replacements that are likely to be available at the end of the season (cough, cough, Aranda, cough....)

BK isn't doing anything until after the season.

According to Kelly, the defense played fine, made a few mistakes. We were playing vs a top ten team.
Everything is ok.
Getting ready for Florida.

Y’all really need to stop this. Kelly isn’t doing anything until after the season ends.

House isn't getting the boot. About 80% sure if that. LSU needs to hire a DL Coach that can recruit very well.
I am not qualified to say whether the other Defensive coaches need to be replaced.
With that said just my eyes tell me the Weeks Boys should be playing more. I don't seem to remember them wiffing on multiple tackles in a game. I also like the play of #13 on Defense. He seems to have a desire to be active when he is in the game. Also not sure why Womack isn't seeing more time on the field.

Do you think he's going to get up there and undress a member of his staff in front of the media? What benefit to the team would that provide?
He said multiple times they need to coach it better. That's all you're going to get.

If Kelly thinks the defense is fine. Then he has to go. This is not the Big 12 where you just out score the other team.

I disagree. It may not be phrased as being fired but more of a “mutual parting of ways.”
I think it’s virtually a given at this point.

Exactly why I won’t care if he stays until end of the year. No one on this staff should get an audition at the job.

No DL coach
The DC is the LB coach
2 DB coaches that will both be gone
Who do you propose take over ??
Think before you post next time geez

Yeah, okay. All three of our losses are to top-10 teams (in their stadiums or back yard, no less). You still can't say that House should be retained for any reason with a straight face, can you?
Even with the lack of talent (and losing talent along the way, like Brooks, Zy and Wingo), there's no reason any LSU defense should look worse than my local high-school's JV team against those offenses.
I've said it a few times now: USC has already made the hard choice, and for the right reason; better to get a head-start on a known problem now instead of waiting for the inevitable logjam of the post-season coaching carousel.
If there's even a hint that a change is needed, we should move now and get ahead of the game - both for the coaching search and for recruiting.

I guess you missed the part where I asked (in the post header) who would take the interim job if House is let go...
That was the point - I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't do any worse than we have so far, so why wait if you're going to do it anyway?
Geez, tough crowd.

I honestly kind of agree with you. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new DL coach and new DB coach, but I don't know that they will cut House loose. Looking at last year, we know that he knows how to adjust when things don't work - the biggest problem is the players he has to work with right now. A totally depleted secondary (some injuries, GB situation, some portal misses) doesn't help. I wouldn't be surprised if they give him another year to make it right.
On the other side, as LB coach I think he has done a terrible job. The angles that they take make absolutely no sense. The lack of pursuit to the ball is terrible.
I'm not sure what will happen but the defensive staff of this year certainly cannot maintain in tact next year.

No, I think he handled it like a good politician.

Excellent post!
Absolutely you need to fire ASAP. It sends a message to recruits that LSU is serious about fixing the issues on a particular side of the ball.
Look at Colorado, USC, Arkansas. Already fired their coordinators. When season ends they will name a replacement. The media ranting and raving over a particular hire will do wonders for a fickle 18 year old deciding where to attend school. The early signing period is why coaches are being canned with 3-4 games left.
House being fired now and a homerun higher being on board immediately after A&M game gives great optimism.
You fire House a week after A&M game and its waaay to late for recruiting. Lose recruits and certainly wont attract anymore.
Lets face it, fire House and everyone knows Steeples and Cooks are gone. This gives optimism for recruits. They dont want to play for these guys and its quite clear looking at recruit rankings.
You have Perkins a stud player constantly talked about on TV but out of position. 5 star Womack who when playing has made an impact but cant see the field during Alabama game. Clearly scheme issue with House. Recruits like to play for an attacking style defense to get after QB. House hates getting pressure on the QB. Need to fire him ASAP to send a message LSU is serious to make changes on defense and right the ship.

Rant bashes Kelly when he throws players under the bus.

I think House is gone the day after the A&M game, and LSU makes a hire that week. From there the new DC spends all of his time recruiting, while Diaco (was DC under Kelly) handles calling the defense in the bowl game.
For any other positional coaches, I'm sure there are analysts on staff that can fill in as needed in interim positions for the bowl game.
