I wouldn’t count on him being a high draft pick for the 2025 draft.

Is that because you're not allowed to draft someone already in the minors?

[I'm aware of the Rule 5 draft]

I figured you would catch that but was waiting for someone to call me an idiot for thinking he wouldn’t be a high pick.

Agreed, and I say this after being a little concerned with some plays early in the year where he was coming off the bag on his stretches. But that has gone and his overall defense has been top notch.

He’s been a ‘picking machine’ at 1b, far exceeding what anyone thought he would do following Morgan. With continued development he can play 1b at the next level.

Tre Morgan was a super freak show at first. You could make a strong argument as the best defensive first baseman in college baseball history.

So Jared gets snd unfair comp but hell yeah, you're right man.

Jared jones is most improved player on team and he wasn’t bad as a fr

He’s found a home at 1b with his defense
Will be interesting to see where he gets drafted or what he tells teams on draft day or leading up to draft
If he continues on trajectory he could be a high first round pick in 2025

If mlb considers him a defensive liability he can dh
Berry wasn’t the best defensively either and he was first college player off board

Now if Kling can do same next year

Here is a post I made about this in February. I am glad that others are noticing.

Jones makes me feel nervous

Jones made a great pick on the play Cent. Ark challenged. I’m not sure if his foot was on the bag or not, but the pick was impressive.

He’s not bad @ 1st, just not as athletic as Trey. He will never make the play Trey did in Omaha, but I do think he does a better job of picking balls out of the dirt than Trey did. That’s the one area I thought Trey needed to improve on.

Jones is also a pretty big target for the infielders to throw to & I think his size may get us several outs this season.

At 6'-4" 253 looks like he could go play Tight End at UGA!

How about DT at LSU?

Jones made that play like Tre earlier this year.

You are comparing 6'-4" 253 to 6'-1" 212?

Do you think Jones goes high enough in the draft this year to sign?
