Lester is right, as usual Shyrone in 2023 is a terror in the passing game. A lot of old heads say he’s the GOAT La high school player

Incorrect. Carey had stone hands.

He played in 05, they just didn’t update his bio.

I remember him looking heavy in 2003. Wasn’t he blazing fast coming out of high school?

Never separated himself from a crowded backfield but had his moments. He’s more known for being a badddd man in NOLA prep football at Shaw

He just happened to be behind better players, but he was a glue guy. Was a freshman in 05 and had a few Kin classes with him and Skyler Green.

as a guy that ultimately didn’t have the speed we thought he had. shifty as hell, but probably not much more than a 4.6 40. If you’re 5’8” that’s a problem. we gushed over an 8 yard run where he semi shook one person the way we did when Booty threw some balls when he first showed up.

We pretended it was amazing because that’s what we had always hoped for even though it was mediocre.

Never was the same after he tried to sell his game tickets or whatever happened. Shyrone and Skyler are what made me a fan as a kid. My dad new their parents so we had to watch every game. Great times.

I honestly don't remember anything about him after selling his natty tickets and being suspended. Addai, Broussard, Vincent, and even a true freshman Hester all passed him up.

He got injured in the miss st game. He returned about 5 games later to a very talented deep backfield.

I remember him getting hurt and then just never having the same speed burst as before and almost being afraid of contact.

Great run up the middle with a slight cut back inside to get in the endzone early vs UGA at home in 2003.

That run is seared in my memory.

This feels like as good an opportunity as any to bring up domanick davis. I wanna say carey got here right after he left, so it’s irrelevant but couldn’t resist — I’ll always love those teams from the late 90s & early 2000s squads.

I’m not sure…

…and none of what I’m about to say matters… but I won Heisman trophy with him on old NCAA game back in the day. And I think Quinn Johnson broke a fullback TD record and Bennie Brazell won the Biletnekoff. Fun times

had the only 99 speed in the game

As to Carey, at some point he was coaching HS in the NO area, I think on the west bank. That was several years ago though.
