No, it’s not all the preferential treatment his teams got all throughout the years; they earned it.

No, it’s not all the recruits LSU lost to him over the years; he’s the greatest recruiter of all time.

No, it’s not all the games LSU lost to them; our idiot coaches were the cause of most of them.

It’s the fact that we had to, for 17 years, look over at Tuscaloosa and say “what if?”

“What if Saban had never taken the Miami job?” “What if the Miami job had worked out?” “What if Drew Brees’ shoulder was good and he was cleared by the Miami docs?” “What if Rich Rod had taken the Alabama opening?” “What if Bertman had actually said he could come back, as Saban was rumored to have asked?” “What if we had a coach that was even near Saban’s level of prowess?” “What if…”

Losing to him all these years, all these times, knowing that he was once here and had already proven to be a winner and as fate would have it, he left, then went to our biggest rival was easily the worst part of his tenure at Alabama.

I’m eternally grateful for all that he did while at LSU; and respect the hell out of him. He’s the type of coach I would want to play for, and would want my son to play for. But all that transpired since his departure is something that I’m not sure I and the rest of us as Tiger fans is something that I’m not sure we can fully get over.

Sure, we’ve had our moments in the sun and have been a top 3 program since Saban came here. But how many heights did we not reach because we had a Miles or Orgeron running things?

Anyway, frick Alabama. frick their fans. frick their team. frick the SEC home office in Birmingham. frick the whole lot of em.

Tough thing to admit, but I would have never seen one of the greatest QB’s ever lead my Saints to a Super Bowl. That was really special for anyone who grew up during the aints, blackouts, etc. Same as growing up watching the 90’s tigers and 2003.
Still witnessed LSU win 3 national championships so far, so all in all my life has been pretty damn good as a sports fan.

Saban staying could have been insane, but I can sleep fine. And now I sleep even better he’s finally gone.

My biggest problem was him saying he wasn't going to leave, then waking up CHRISTMAS DAY and seeing the Dolphins private jet at the BR Metro Airport on the local news with the ticker at the bottom of the screen saying "Saban Accepts Head Coaching Postion at Miami." , Then 2 years later, he accepted the position at Alabama, if he had gone anywhere else, it wouldn't have been that bad. But the fact that he leaves LSU, for just 2 years after failing in the NFL to go to Alabama of all places was just wrong and I will never forgive him for that. I don't care how much of a loser it makes me sound like to some people. that just was not a cool move.

My thoughts exactly. I respect him but all of this makes me not like him and still don't.

He says the typical coach speak "they're (LSU) is a good team) and but I don't find it to be very sincere.

I saw the quote from him today saying, "We'll always be part of Alabama." He said the same thing when he left LSU. "I'll always be a Tiger." Yeah, ok.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish any ill will on the guy but he is about himself. He's one of the best, no doubt but I don't think he's a very nice person.

In any case, I'm sure he'll enjoy his retirement.

What I regret is LSU attorneys not smart enough to put a 5 or more year probation from coaching at another SEC school upon his voluntary departure in his original contract.

Where is Nick Saban today if LSU doesn't hire him away from Michigan State? What if Mark Emmert didnt tell LSU to hire Saban and give him 9 figures to coach the football team? I am sure Bama doesn't hire him if Nick didn't come here and win a Natty.

So you believe that LSU made Saban or Saban made LSU?

The irony of a thread accusing Saban of being selfish for his move to Bama yet we are mad, selfishly, because he didnt stick around to do it here. That's not at all how life works. Do you people live in a bubble?

He was a prick at LSU. I knew someone in the athletic department and one example of this is that there was a rule that if you were walking down the hall and he was coming in the opposite direction you were not allowed to make eye contact and you CERTAINLY were not allowed to speak to him.

A lie at the time, at least his words are finally true:

"I guess I have to say it," Saban said. "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."

He was definitely a prick, but at the time he was our prick! He always hung it over LSUs head about the NFL and that he could leave anytime he wanted. He was always bitching at LSU about facilities, classrooms.etc. He helped build LSU. No doubt.

My biggest what if is I think LSU wins back to back in 2006 and 2007 w Saban.

I wish him well in retirement and am glad the Tide is turning.

Be upset at Skip. He had the clout to say “yes” to Saban when he wanted to return.

Yes, we’d have been temporarily roasted for dismissing Miles but you could easily tell by then (hell when Chris Jackson unscripted a fake punt Miles’ first series at Arizona St) you knew the culture was eroding.

Dude, you act like coaches don’t do that type of shite all the time. It ain’t exclusive to just Saban.
