Great game, it got me excited about what LSU basketball could be. Neither of those teams is made up of elite 5 stars, just players with unbelievable effort. I firmly believe that level of play is achievable for LSU, and I hope CMM is the man for the job.

Houston’s coach has had multiple run ins with the NCAA.

We run off coaches for that at LSU. But hey, we got one home NIT game out of the deal!

His overall point is not wrong, as Houston has 0 5*s on their current roster. Then again, if you have Kelvin Sampson a top 3-5 coach in the country like you said, it’s easier to identify diamonds in the rough. Most of Houston’s bulk consists of guys ranked 100th-250th in the country. So technically Houston is not some 5 star littered behemoth of a roster, but they have identified studs and have the best roster in the country.

Very strange that you could watch that and think that could be LSU giving the current situation

Don’t dispute that at all, I would argue that they are a top roster because of the player development at Houston more so than being elite high school recruits.

Houston recruits at a higher level than you’re giving them credit for but more importantly Sampson’s teams are fun to watch and execute at a much higher level than LSU currently does.

You enjoyed the game because it was played at a much higher level than you’re used to watching with 2024 LSU. We don’t really do anything particularly well and any average joe can see that.
