Ole Miss is statistically the 2nd worst team LSU will play this year in conference.

They don’t do anything even average.

I know LSU hasn’t swept anyone this year, but I would argue that this is their best chance bc the series is at home.

Ole Miss is also 4-8 on the road this year in SEC play. They are losing 2/3 on average.

I’m not saying it will happen, but after looking at the numbers, this was always the best shot besides maybe the Auburn series.

P.S.
Their fielding percentage makes us look like a team full of gold glovers.
That doesn’t include the 20 passed balls that they have, which is over 3 times LSU at 6.

I know that.

Can you believe the audacity that I have to provide stats that show LSU has some real advantages this weekend.

Sweeping will still be very difficult, but not completely out of the question.

We will probably beat them the first two games then lose on some late inning routine mishap game 3 to choke the season away

Their pitching is suspect and their defense is terrible. Their catchers make LSU’s bunch look like Yogi Berra and Yadier Molina. They can swing it though if they get hot. And they are pretty much playing for their season too.
I don’t think both make a regional

Thanks for the stats. I did have to downvote you. I did not want to, but I must abide.

It's possible neither make a regional, but LSU doesn't have a ghost of a chance unless it wweeps the Rebels next weekend

I bet we win the first two, Ole Miss salvages the last, and we both choke in the SEC tourney.

This ends both seasons with a frustrated fan base for both sides. Bianco gets run out of Oxford, Jay's honeymoon ends and he has loads of time to rebuild the roster.

That's my prediction.

This stat is funny. LSU with only 6 passed balls. That's funny right there.

Heck, Travinski hardly ever caught and prolly had 6 by himself

Stats are fine to look at, but ultimately meaningless when it comes down to the games themselves.

Case in point: LSU got shut down yesterday by a pitcher with a slightly sub-7 ERA.

So much of WP vs PB is the scorer's opinion. A better stat is to add PB plus WP because of how that gets scored.

For LSU Trav has 0 PB, Millazo 1 PB, and Neal 5 PB. That is our 6 PB. LSU also has 57 WPs PB + WP = 61

For Ole Miss Eli Berch has 4 PB, Trenton Lyons 5 PB, and Smithwick Campbell 11 PB, THat is their 30 PB. Ole Miss has 42 WPs PB + WP = 62

So I would say by that metric, LSU and Ole Miss are virtually identical in this area. There should probably be some intermediate that allows for half WP and half PB. The negative equivalent of assisted tackles in football.

LSU is 2-5 in 1 run or extra inning SEC games this season. Of those 2 wins, LSU was up 9-1 (won 9-8); the other was a walk off against Auburn.

I don’t really have a point to make here. The loss of Dylan Crews hurts, but to replace him with whatever we trot out in Center could be worth 2 runs over the course of a game.

And you’re basing that, on what? Something that happened in 2011? Stats that go all the way back to 1999? I’m not saying LSU would definitely get in with a sweep, but every SEC team since 2017 with at least 13 conference wins and 36 total wins has made it. That’s the most relevant data point. You have zero justification for your arrogance.

It’s a horseshite stat. If it’s in the dirt but should be blocked up they call it a wild pitch. Kinda like when someone misjudges a pop up but it doesn’t hit the glove it’s not an error

This may be the first time I've looked at SEC only team stats this year. This is so fricking annoying.

Based on those numbers, LSU should be right around the 15-16 win mark and pushing for a host site. Statistically, we're an average to above average SEC team. Instead, we're playing for the post season.

Yeah Ben Hess isn't your typical 7 ERA guy tho. He's essentially a Thatcher Hurd type. Has elite stuff, dominated the cape, dealt with injuries his whole career. Those guys are due for big games every now and then (See Hurd against Florida in the CWS).

He may be a first round pick.
