Starting pitcher tomorrow

I doubt we use Holman on short rest. Should we use Hurd in a double elimination game and see if he can bring back what he had last year at this time?

It's the same rest Jump got, and would give Holman more rest for the regionals. I would pitch him tomorrow.

That gives Holman less rest going into the regional.

How so?
He gets 9 days rest if he pitches tomorrow...

true, but he'd get more rest than is typical even if we give him til Thursday which will still be short rest.

I wouldn't. But, to be fair, I've been wrong about Jay Johnson's pitching decisions for the last couple of weeks.

It'll be Holman and he'll get yanked quick if he gets shaky, even early. If he puts together a Gage Jump performance, he'll go long.
Just IMO.
Just IMO.

I think what he meant was that if we don't pitch Holman tomorrow that would mean we pitch him later in the SEC tournament and then he would have less rest before the NCAAs.
I don't think it matters either way. He's had four days rest, which is enough. And if he pitches on Wed or Thurs he still would have a ton of rest before game 2 of a regional.

Because 8 days is less than 9

Yes Hollman. He is gonna have the same amount of rest Jump had. Jump dominated. So can Hollman on 4 days.

While this is a fair point, we needed a pitcher to dominate today as we needed the win today. We're now in double-elimination land, which means he can still be "guaranteed" a start even if he doesn't pitch tomorrow. I would hold him for another day, personally, but I'm not a NC-winning baseball wizard HC who does seemingly mad things like pitch Skenes against 4-seed Tulane. I'll defer to someone who does match that description.

Since it's double elimination, I'd hold him till game 3. I doubt KY pitches their Friday or Saturday guy since they've locked their national seed, so roll the dice and if you steal one tomorrow, you pitch Holman with a chance to be in the winner's bracket final. Someone would have to come back and beat us twice.
