Pete Jenkins, 82 years young and considered the greatest D-Line coach ever in college football, is joining the LSU coaching staff.

This will be the 6th different LSU head coach Jenkins will work for at LSU.

Jenkins will join the team as a defensive line coach analyst and work with the team on the fundamentals/ techniques part of the game.

He is expected to join the Tiger coaching staff Tuesday.

Great news.
He is the GOAT D Line coach.
Too bad he is 99 years old.

Pete is still one of if not the best in his trade. Many Pro and College players still come to him to refine their game.

Jenkins continues to consult coaching staffs across the country. Jenkins also serves as an off-season trainer for Current NFL players as well as NFL Draft prospects.

The Louisiana Line Camp started in 1987 with Jessie Daigle, Kenny Ferro, and Pete Jenkins and continues with people like Mawae and other high school, college, and NFL coaches.

LSU is very lucky that Pete is this close by. Great move on Kelly’s part.

This was a desperation move even under prior coaching staffs.
And it's PANIC TIME right now.

At one time, Pete Jenkins was the best DL Coach in the business.

It certainly can't hurt to bring him in because at this point it's just about hit rock bottom.

Pete can't do much for the god awful secondary though.

Weeks absolutely needs to be starting at MLB. That right there would improve the Defense. Absolutely don't know what House is thinking.

2017? I didn’t realize it had been this long since he’d retired.

What you call retired and what Pete calls it are two different things. He fields more call than most extended warranty companies.

I still know a few coaches that still do one on one with players. A former LSU OC, is still doing sessions with QB’s. Last word I got, he was down in the Florida area. Ed Zaunbrecher.

Can we bring back Ron Cooper to coach the secondary while we are at it?
Maybe next season.

He's the Head Coach at Long Island University so we know he's still on the football field.

Would he want to come back and coach DB's at LSU?

He would absolutely be an upgrade over what's there now.

How about Cooper coaching CB's and Bill "I brought Joe Burrow to LSU" Busch coaching Safeties. (He's at Nebraska currently)

He didn’t hate it as long as it was close. Likes to sleep in his own bed at night.

This man has forgotten more about football than most people on this board will ever know.

Here is a great interview of him from earlier this year

I like this move. Anyone who paid attention saw that our dline was not getting it done. Hopefully Pete can get this turned around soon.

LSU had a good DBU coach when Kelly came in, but he didn't want him around. Great decision.

Maybe, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Pete actually called Kelly himself. Pete loves LSU

Nice. At least some action is being taken on Coaching. This guy is one of the best DL coaches out there.
