Chaffin started the final home game today and was charged with 3 runs. I think Beth was shedding a tear when she had to go to the mound to pull her. I believe Chaffin will not be back next season. I have a feeling she will do like Wickersham did a couple of years ago and move on to her career pursuit. Not sure if its in the medical field or what. Perhaps, 357 can shed some light on this for us.

Therein lies the problem, too attached to the players can’t make the tough decisions.

Her contract goes through 2026. They will prob let it play out then make a decision/change. Next year gonna be worse than this one though so it'll be a bit of a rebuilding year with so many new faces

This would be my guess though it could come down to a game of chicken (pardon the pun) with Scott and Torina if Beth has the balls to demand an extension with the rationale “I can’t recruit with an expiring contract.”

My guess is Beth keeps mum under the circumstances—she knows she is not meeting expectations. And Scott lets the contract expire and they use the happy narrative in 2026 that Beth is retiring to “spend time with family.”

Scott knows the optics would not be the greatest to immediately fire the new “all-time winningest coach” and I’m sure softball is his hedge at being viewed as “Captain Hook.” As long as they have seasons like this in 2025 and 2026, Scott is fine with it.

Of course with Oklahoma and Texas coming aboard, this program could get knocked around pretty good in conference in 2025 where Scott can’t ignore it.

I just can’t understand why she gets such leeway with fans

Pawl did it for 5-6 years too. Fans are so hung up that if the coach is failing it means their passion or faith in the program is failing. Yet it’s the exact opposite you have to relieve coaches that just sit and stay stagnant. Doesn’t mean the program is bad just sometime change is needs. For softball it was 5 years ago.

Who cares about the optics ?
Last 4 years in conference games a record of 51-45. Next year they probably won’t touch 500 in conference. Past time for a change.

Why is LSU not a 6th seed? Miss State, Georgia, and LSU are all 12-12.

Record against each other: (2-1), (1-2), and (0-0), respectively.
Record against No 1 seed (Tenn): All went (1-2)
Record against No 2 seed (Florida): All went (1-2) [LSU only one Away]
Record against No 3 seed (A&M): LSU swept (3-0)!, Miss St (1-2), Georgia (0-0)

Good breakdown. When you find out the answer let us know. Maybe you can contact the SEC office. They must have an explanation

She continues to finish lower and lower in the conference each year.

Not quite true but I get the frustration. She is consistently mediocre.

2020 COVID Year
2021 35-22 Overall 13-11 SEC
2022 34-23 Overall 13-11 SEC
2023 42-17 Overall 13-11 SEC
2024 38-14 Overall (so far) 12-12 SEC

It's Birmingham making sure that Alabama wins games at the tournament.

Then if it's us playing Bama, then the umpires will be directed to make every close and obvious call go against us.

In fairness they played a good non con schedule…there are issues no doubt but a soft schedule isn’t among them. They did beat the top 3 teams in the country, their strength of schedule is the 3rd toughest in the country and they had the toughest schedule in the SEC

Well they did make sure Bama's first game was against the worst team. They want no part of Mississippi State. They will play only 2 games as Tennessee will shove it against them.

LSU will get beaten/cheated whatever against Bama and then go on to be about a 12 or 13 seed in a regional they probably won't hit there way of
