I attended an MBB practice yesterday. Jalen Reed was sidelined due to a knee tweak. Will Baker was in Mexico at a wedding which is unfortunate because I wanted to see him in person. Mwani Wilkinson looked great, healthy. Derek Fountain also looked strong but stopped practicing for an unknown reason. A walk-on guard, Trace Young, appeared to be a decent shooter, although size (bulk) might be an issue. I didn't see much from Daimian Collins, so he's somewhat of an unknown. Tyrell Ward looked like he filled out a little more and was sharp. The exhibition practice was highly organized and high energy. I can only hope they maintain that energy when outsiders aren't there. I can watch any loss as long as we're hustling.

I got to speak with Trae Hannibal, and he said that this team hangs out a lot more than last season. He thinks there will be better team chemistry.

It looks like they're a little bigger and hopefully have some better shooters. They're taking a step in the right direction, not a leap. Expectations are tempered, but I'll be supporting CMM and the Tigers.

Let's see some progress. A competitive SEC team that makes the NIT is not too much to ask for.

Because when it’s said “MBB,” an is correct.

I’m hoping the Bahamas games will help them hit the ground running when practice starts in Oct.

That is actually correct if you say Em Bee Bee rather than men's basketball. A or an is determined by the pronunciation rather than the actual letter.

Hell yeah sounds like McMild has this team ready to double their SEC wins from year from 2 to 4!

The offensive’s play last year was so boring it was difficult to watch….I’ve been a season ticket holder for 35 years but it needs to turn around quickly before the fans turn on the program
Will wade had his issue but he was an excellent coach…..

No that’s where you’re wrong he was an excellent recruiter but not good with X’s and O’s. He ran his offense like Dale Brown did street ball. He won with talent alone.

i would agree, but i would be disappointed in an NIT berth.
There is no reason LSU should not be in the NCAA tourney every year. I don't care about your excuses why they shouldn't. There are no valid excuses other than the coach sucks at coaching and/or recruiting.

kewl. the PMAC was packed and we were winning and challenging to win the SEC with him annually. Basketball was fun.
McMahon better turn this shite around quickly this year or he's going to have to go back to mid major coaching.

I get what you are saying on a macro level but that’s unrealistic at the micro level.

When you look at the roster that we have, an NIT bid would be a great season.

I understand that in general we as fans feel like the resources and support are at a level that should allow us to be a perennial tournament team but the current reality is that we are behind our peers and an NIT bid would be over achieving.

One would hope that an NIT bid would allow McMahon to convince some better talent to transfer here next year and give us a chance to live up to the potential we as fans saw Will Wade tap into.

An MBB is correct. You use an when the next letter sounds like a vowel, not when it is a vowel.

When will we know for sure a waiver will be granted? Is he practicing now and will he be playing in next week's exhibition games?

I would have figured this would have been resolved by now.

it should never be unrealistic at LSU. It should be the expectation.

well if we can't get a roster to make it happen, then we need someone different at the helm who can get us that roster. With the transfer portal and the talent in this state, this is a piss poor excuse.

There are examples all across the country of new coaches doing a ton better than McMahon has done. Wade came into a situation that was terrible, taking over a program that just had it's worst season ever, and won the SEC in year 2. I get it, this past year was a tough one to bring anyone in worth a shite. I'll accept that excuse with the punishment on the program lingering over. That's not there anymore, so there are no excuses anymore.

I'll say this, i'll be upset if we don't make the tourney, but if we play hard for the most part and we are competitive, and make the NIT, then i can see the progress and be happy about that. IF this season is anywhere near what last season was i would fire him before the season is even over just so we can get a headstart on hiring someone new and getting on the recruiting asap.
It is astonishing how much energy last year took out of a program that had finished top 5 the last 4 years and in the tourney. I get it he had a tough time recruiting for last year, but that excuse is gone now.
