All we had to do was stand up to the NCAA and we wouldn’t have set our program back a decade. The administration should be ashamed of themselves for how this was handled.

Will Wade isn't a good coach, he definitely wasn't very good in March

No one will ever talk about the blue bloods in basketball cheating. Just LSU and will wade.

I support Matt McMahon and think he is a good coach who will be fine, but we won’t be relevant in March for quite some time.

Will Wade should be ashamed for giving the administration no real choice.

Don't kid yourself. They should have never fired Will Wade but the NCAA would have pounded LSU basketball into the dirt. We aren't Kansas we don't have the name brand to stand up to them like Kansas basketball does

McMahon is getting basketball turned around (I think), but man it’s hard not to miss the swagger of the program when we had Wade. His teams were fun to watch, and I think we would’ve gone far in the year he was suspended in the tourney (thanks Alleva. a-hole)

Not sure why people don’t get this. LSU wasn’t gonna get the same treatment. If folks didn’t pick up on that just from the disparate treatment relative to how the media covered that whole situation with the FBI then I don’t know what to tell you

Add to it the fact that Wade horribly mishandled the entire thing himself and LSU really had no good option in that deal.

Good coaches don't use their wives to bankroll players' girlfriends. The good ones let boosters do that.

Absolutely they would have, that's why we had no choice! Those dumb fricks(NCAA) pick and choose who they want to drop the hammer on and they sure in the hell would have to us!

That's not accurate. It is pretty clear the administration had a real choice. They could have made the same choice that Kansas made.

Wade was not fired because of an NCAA investigation or NOA. Wade was fired because Woody did not like him and got his feelings hurt when Wade criticized the condition of facilities. Scott wanted him gone and used the first opportunity he could to do it.

The problem is Scott has a horrible track record with men's basketball coaches. He got McMahon very cheap (especially considering he avoided any buyout). Now we have a program that will be irrelevant for a second straight year. There are some signs of life for 2024, but we have yet to see if McMahon can win at the P5 level and run a program that is consistently competitive at the top of the SEC. That is where Wade had this program in Year 5 (4 straight NCAA appearances, 1 conference title and 3 of the 5 years finishing in the top 4 of the league).

For those that want to claim Wade wasn't a good coach and somehow wasn't good in March - nice try at revising history. Wade won the SEC in year 2, was a tip-in away from winning the SEC Tournament in year 4. We also went 3-3 in the NCAA tournament under Wade. Yes, I know he only coached three of those games. Which really begs the question how far could we have gone in 2019 and 2022...

If this case were before the NCAA Committee on Infractions, I would agree with you. However, this case was before the IARP. With evidence available for the IARP to consider (which wasn't much after you trimmed all the fat off the NOA), LSU was not going to get hammered.

That really wasn't true for the cases decided by the IARP - as opposed to the NCAA Committee on Infranctions.

I wish we still had Wade. He got good players to come here (although bought them, but so does UNC, KU, and everyone else) and we made the tournament consistently. The jury is still out on McMahon. He’s a good coach, but can he recruit? That remains to be seen over the next couple of years. His team was awful last year, but that wasn’t completely his fault.

Who is a "Good Coach" in March?

Wade was the best ever at LSU, in respect to his accomplishments in such a short time period.

Mac has to win the Conference, this season, and Kelly has to win a Natty next season to match their predecessor's record of accomplishment.

The "Standard" maybe has been lowered for some unknown reason.

So a recording and a paper trail of activities after he signed a commitment that no new information would not come out is not why he was fired but some feeling you Waders have about the AD you hate because he fired your hero with cause is the real reason.

Sound logic.

Because the situations were exactly the same.
