I mean, if if you want me to get really picky about the regional or the Super Regional I would have liked to have gotten more pitchers in the game that we think are good. So they'll have that chance, you know, in this tournament.”

Jay Johnson is the poster child for coach speech.

It's been discussed

I'll believe it when I see it

If it happens and it works, it will be as big as BK going for 2 vs Bama

I know this will get 4,862 downvotes but -

I believe, you hold Skenes for Game 2. And I will tell you why ----

You want to win this tournament with using our 6 best pitchers. I wouldn't want them to have to win 2 games in a row or even 3, while Skenes is on rest.

So, in looking at the bracket and the schedule, and understanding that the goal is getting to that championship series. That's the only way you win the Natty - you have to get to that series.

In order for us to do that, I believe, we have to protect Floyd, Hurd, Cooper, Ackenhausen and Cooper by not asking them to win 2 in a row in Omaha.

So, I would ask them to Win Game 1 vs Tennessee.

In fact, if you throw Floyd and Hurd 50 pitches each that might get you 6 innings. Cooper, Ackenhausen and Guidry can finish..... against Tennessee and give you the W.

Skenes gets the ball in Game 2. You win that game and then - you are in position to advance to the Championship series. The team that comes out of the losers bracketeone has to hold our bats down TWICE... for a total of 18 innings. I like my chances.

YOu would then have Floyd for Game 3. Or Hurd. Or both. Plus the 2 lefties and Guidry. We only have to win 1 to advance to the Championship series.

You play to win. Being in the winners bracket is a must for a team with spotty pitching. If Skenes can win the first game and go into the 7th or 8th inning, then we have a good chance against Wake or any other team.

He's made it pretty clear he's not going to say anything about the starting pitchers or roster until he turns the line-up card in 90 mins before the game.

Unless there is an injury or some fatigue we don't know about, it's pretty much a certainty Skenes will be getting the ball in game one and the lineup you saw in the regionals/super regionals is the one that will take the field Saturday.

I suppose there could be a little bit of a mystery as to the Game 2 starter given Floyd did not have his best outing Sunday. However, Floyd has been LSU's #2 pitcher most of (if not all of) the season and I can't imagine that will change in the CWS.

As fans we are just bored and need something to talk about until the game on Saturday. But the reality is what you saw this past weekend is what you are going to see starting Saturday. Hopefully the results are the same as well.

I was also hoping that he would divulge to us and the other teams, the entire plan that he will use to try to defeat them.

Although it would put LSU at a considerable disadvantage, at least the LSU supporters' curiosities would be satisfied.

Along the same lines, the coaches of all other sports should just publish and deliver their game plans ahead of time to the coaches of the the teams they will face.

This is an insanely retarded plan. Not only do you want to hold your ace, but you also want to throw your two other starting pitchers in one game and then bring them back on short rest for another start.

Floyd usually pitches when the weather is really conducive to offense. And jay has mentioned that and other things about floyd and what he likes about him. I have zero doubt floyd will start one of the first 2 games

This is bullshite. You heard it here first. He’s going to pitch Skenes the first game of a regional against the worst team in the whole tournament, and you expect him to do something different when we’re going up against a far superior opponent with far better pitching in Tennessee? Yeah, that ain’t happening.

Just cause you post it 857 times per day doesn't make it any more true.

Broski - look at the schedule. THere is an off day between each game.

Throwing 45-50 pitches, and coming back to pitch on 3 days rest is totally doable.

You're fricking retarded.

If you're capping off Floyd and Hurd at 50 pitches, all you're doing is killing our bullpen.

You play to win games 1 and 2. Makes no difference if you win game 1 if you turn around and lose the 2nd.. your in the exact same spot, Except maybe you can bring Skenes back on short rest to get us to the CS. But that compromises him for the CS itself. Id like to win it all, not just make the finals ala 2017.

IMO our best route to 2-0 is Floyd/Hurd/Everyone but Skenes vs Tenn. and Skenes vs WF
