Where is Perkins? LSU's all world linebacker and he seemed out of it, the play that is. Using him as a spy or something? If so, not smart. Speights was overrated, Weeks looked serviceable at least and was around the ball most of the time.

Hard to believe but the secondary was rarely out of position, Grambling's qb hit some tight spots with his receivers. Hard to beat a qb who is extremely accurate.

Tackling form sucks. Who taught these guys how not to tackle? Drives me crazy.

Elementary I know, but that's my take. Offense looked good but Grambling defense is horrific.

Pretty spot on. Secondary getting too much hate. They couldn't cover the 2 tall, elite receivers for FSU, but not many other teams will either. They were in position on many plays but the receivers were just better. Front 7 has been more of a disappointment to me. Wingo and Swinson have been solid, but not enough of the others. Tackling and gap assignments have been a disappointment.

We don't have any "dudes" in the front seven like we used to have. Maybe Wingo in adequate, the rest are soft, including that big 5- star that's always hurt.

Grambling was way too successful in First quarter.

Wake up Tigers and play aggressive from opening kickoff.

Defense has regressed. Run defense is especially concerning.

I'm not super concerned with the run defense. Grambling's biggest runs were on 3rd and long when we were in dime man and they ran draws off the tackle. The Saints wouldn't have stopped those runs, just the perfect call against that defense.

Now Swinson did lose contain on two of their other runs. I think that's something you'll see shake up against MSU. Would love to see Maason and Jones on the ends and Wingo and Jefferson in the middle when we run our 4 down/jack set.

Our LBs are not savy enough. The line is not eating up enough space.
I think Speights was hurt this weekend. One of their decent runs he appeared to be limping pretty bad chasing the ball carrier. Regardless, I would love to see Whit Weeks get some significant playing time in the middle. He's the fastest LB outside of Perkins by a pretty good margin Need him to get looks and work diagnosing run plays.

CBs are also not there yet but are more promising than the front 7.
.
CBs played much better than they're getting credit for. The first ball on Alexander and the TD on Harris, they were both in perfect position. Just need to work on turning their head a little sooner. Harris did it for multiple balls after that first TD.

The safety's, specifically Burns, concern me with their tackling in space. Burns is heady and savvy enough to be in position 99% of the time, but his ability to blow tackles that would make Craig Loston jealous

This is just dumb. Smith is the best player on the team when healthy. He's getting his feet wet for the first time in 2 years. Wingo is a first round pick. Jefferson has shown elite run stuffing ability and has gotten consistent pressure up the middle. Swinson and Ovie have shown promise.

I got down voted to hell for saying safeties were a concern before the 1st game. Ward was a pretty good safety for us and Foucha was decent as well. We miss those guys. Toviano or Allen need to step up and take those spots from Sam or Burns. Or Brooks take one of their spots. Burns and Sam both are liabilities in space. Sam whiffed big time on the grambling rb on a 2nd and 11 allowing a 19 yard gain instead a 3 yard gain.

Rewatched highlights for Gramblings 1st 2 series. In addition to Sam missed tackle on that run he missed another plus barely made one by clipping the wrs cleat on a slant. Burns missed 3 tackles in those 2 drives.

I'm just curious why Grambling took out their QB who was playing well.
