Bo Davis will get us where we need to be, but that won’t be for another couple of years if we’re just getting them out of highschool. Bo can’t be expected to turn chicken shite into chicken salad. It’ll take time. This lays at the feet of CBK. Nobody made the shitty defensive hires for him.

2022- Special teams all f’d up all year long
2023- Defense all f’d up all year long
2024-

Leasing or renting is a very good option. Outsourcing is another name we can associate with transfer portal players. Subcontractors or general labor defensive lineman sounds better but buying a player sounds illegal.

The NCAA is still the authority, right? Just like the NFL can implement a salary cap and the players have unionized. I would not be surprised if compensation is pooled and players earn it per snap played over the course of the season.

Translation "we are not going to over pay."

After the mason Smith experience, I'm with him.

They were offering Maason several hundreds of thousands of dollars to come back next year…

I’m not the sky is falling type, but I’m not super sunshine pumper, either. Don’t be lazy with your probablys. Look at my history before running your mouth and calling people names online like a 12 year old. I’m not saying that we’ll go 6-6, but it’s more likely now that we haven’t addressed the interior Defensive Line.

I get not wanting to cough up 1.5M to a kid that’s definitely not worth it, but CBK chose not to be more active in the first portal window. You can’t come out and say, all that needs addressing in the portal is Defensive tackles and then go out and not get any of them.

In your scenario, the players would be employees, and you could implement a cap and control outside nil deals.

We will see very quickly how this works out this year. I find it hard to believe there won't be a lot of butt hurt on the part of players on many teams...players that were already established starters. We have seen it already at A&M.....let's see how it starts to play out.

Can you imagine paying Williams his overvalued $1.5m and he comes to a team where people like Will or Heard or Perkins are getting much less. It will happen. One thing you know is everything Dems touch turns to shite.

So you are saying they should can him if they don't make the playoffs, pay out his salary, then hire another guy for more than he was making, while trying to come up with NIL money too? Not to mention the quick trigger precedent it sets. What could go wrong?

It’s so difficult for me to have a strong opinion without knowing the actual compensation offered to these recruits, as well as the structure of the NIL being offered.

And I’d love to know what the current compensation is for our football team, as well as where it’s coming from and what’s required to receive it.

I don't think it will. He needs to stick with this mindset and not panic and overpay some immature mediocrity. This is actually an opportunity for him to communicate that to the team and say "I value you. We are in this together." Our DL coach has a great reputation for developing players. Hopefully we can scheme around our weaknesses as he develops the guys we have.
