Tidbits:
- New Mexico is 2-1, coming off 27-10 victory over UTEP

- Kickoff is 6:30pm CT on SECN+/ESPN+

- Jay Ward (Defense) and BJ Ojulari (Defensive Line) named SEC Players of the Week

- Kelly liked the mental and physical toughness of the team...team didn't panic when they went down.

- Looking for more consistency and a complete performance...can the team handle success?

- New Mexico defense allowing 13.5 points per game...5th in country on 3rd down...forced 7 turnovers this past weekend. They will be tough.

- New Mexico run pistol offense with ball control, talented guys on the perimeter.

- Conditioning of LSU team is showing as LSU is wearing down teams in 3rd and 4th quarter.

- Anthony Bradford status: he is activated this week.

- LSU had 8 total penalties...6 were unforced and 5 were related to communication issues.

- Assessment of Jayden Daniels: Kelly loves coaching a player open to dialog during the game...he gets input from Kelly and Coach Sloan during game and handles it well.

- Emery Jones, while not perfect, exceeded expectations...great footwork.

- Regarding Kayshon Boutte: need to do better job to get him open...double-teamed a lot...need to move him around more.

- Thoughts on special teams: kicker needs to do better job of kicking...many issues were the result of short or line drive kick offs...but it is not all on the kicker. Overall, special teams need to be coached up some more. On the punt return when we jumped on the ball, returner thought ball had touched an LSU player.

- Kelly pleased with run game efficiency against Miss State to close out the game. All the RB's contributed...getting John Emery back helped and he was good in pass protection.

- Punt returner needs to be coached to not field a punt if he has to step back from the 10 yard line.

- Great punt hang time on Miss State's fumbled punt by Bramblett...hang time of 4.5+ seconds

- Harold Perkins stood out with his pressure off the edge and with inside blitzs. Will be seen more in dime and nickel packages.

- Defensive backfield showing a lot of different looks and confusing the offenses...great depth at position allows players to rest.

- Regarding Malik Nabers: has done great job putting his mistakes of FSU game behind him...has really stepped up with his dynamic plays on offense.

- Jay Ward banged up on interception but expected to play against NM

- On Daniels running the ball: doesn't care that he runs if the reason for running is valid.

- On Mason Taylor: has great confidence, great hands, ability to run after the catch, and put on some weight when he got here...we didn't find him very well against Miss State...had one mistake where he stepped out of bounds before catching ball.

- On John Emery's first game in while: was elated to play in the game...nervous going into the game...very sore afterward. He was rusty but overall did well.

- Lots of kickers on the team...doesn't see any need to replace anyone at this time.

We should be heavily favored of course but New Mexico is a lot tougher out than New Mexico State.

I’m sure you run your organization with an Iron Fist. Firing anyone at the drop of a hat…

Kelly answered all of my questions for the week.

- ST breakdowns and reasoning (low kicks down center of field) He was visibly not happy with how they have performed this far.
- Coaching JD on finishing his progressions before taking off but still allowing him to be an athlete
- Mason Taylor working through freshman mistakes (stepping on, not settling down in zone, etc.)

These press conferences are great as long as the reporters ask the right questions.

I'm pretty sure the player made that up. Quick thinking.

This is a bullshite answer. Obvious he won’t say the QB needs to see the field better and get him the ball but this is the correct answer.

The reason Nabers got the ball the most is because he’s usually in a route directly in front of the QB a very short distance down the field. This was the case all but maybe 1 throw to Nabers.

Considering the level of expectations at lsu and the repeated critical mistakes, I would say he needs to be 12’ up polians arse about making corrections.

he had already addressed that Daniels need to do a better job of finding the open guys and not running for the sake of running

The one he muffed? Was that his excuse?

Nevermind. He's talking about Clayton.

I actually buy it. It was a crappy punt that landed in the middle of the field, short. Looking at it live, it did appear to come very close to hitting the back of the foot of an unsuspecting LSU player running down the field to block.

Rocky Long has been a solid defensive coach for a long time. He's a New Mexico grad, I think is the winningest HC in New Mexico history, and had a really nice run at San Diego State.

They don't have a ton of talent, and I think they have a lot of underclassmen, but Long will scheme some challenging looks for Daniels and the offense which will only help us get better.

Not fired just be a figurehead for special teams coach. Bring in a consultant to fix special teams. He was bad at ND and worse here. I understand he's a BBQ buddy but damn there needs to be a fire under his arse.

So, player not executing is a coach fault. I’m sure Polian has emphasized this kicking issue many times. Looks to me they have a hard time getting off blocks too.

You can’t tell there not being coached well? Every single aspect of special teams has had coaching mistakes after 3 games. That’s why bk said he’s gonna start getting involved more
