They also will get the input of the regional advisory committee, which is meant to serve as their eye test. A coach from each conference (the SEC’s is Auburn’s Butch Thompson) and a member of the conference office provide analysis to a member of the selection committee, who then takes it to the committee at large. The conference administrator’s role is to provide further context into scheduling and other details. The coach is meant to give the on-field view of each of the teams in the mix

Interesting from a AL.com article - note how LSU is singled out, don't expect any help from Thompson or Cohen

That much is unclear. Thompson made very clear his intentions to use the transfer portal. But he said he needs more financial support to do so. Thompson made his pitch to come to Auburn about playing in the SEC and the exposure that brings. But next season there will be 15 other teams to make that same pitch. He, too, is selling opportunity for a large role, trying to find someone he can rely on.

So Thompson said it’s going to take a larger NIL investment than he’s already had.

Implicit in his message? Auburn isn’t competing at the same level financially as teams like LSU.

I think LSU is too big of a brand and money maker for ncaa baseball to leave them out, especially when on the fence like this.

Florida should be the biggest point of contention. The reason is because their overall record (28-26) is in NO WAY worthy of NCAA Tournament selection. The only reason they are in consideration is they played the toughest schedule. While SOS is and should be important, actually winning several of those games should matter hell of a lot more. Otherwise, you are telling teams "As long as you schedule tough it doesn't really matter how many games you win

Florida is also the only team with a losing record against Q2 teams.

Edit: and a .500 record with Q3.

Looking at the list makes me sick knowing we had Bama beat.

We had Florida beat too. But we had Alabama beat in game 1 and game 3.

Vandy too. I mean if we win the games we should have (literally by catching pitches/blocking up better) we would probably be a national seed. Instead we are fighting for our lives

It’s the most SEC good ole boy thing ever to elect a dude to the committee who has put his conflict of interest clearly in writing.

You’re 100% right. LSU has a better strength of record and better winning % against Q1 and Q2 teams than Florida.

And head to head doesn’t matter. Not in baseball where you play 56 games.
