Actually, the winners are the ones who outsmart the market. They find value.

Minnesota overpaid for Herschel Walker and handed Dallas the keys to those great 90s teams.

There is not a salary cap in college football, but there is a very real limit to resources.

Bo Davis for obvious reasons. Then there are plenty more as Lindseys resume was not impressive

What don't you understand about the situation? If they pay a scrub $1m, 84 other people will enter the portal in 8 months all requesting the same payout.

Other teams don’t seem to have a problem with this? Is this only an LSU problem?

They kicked the tires with Bo first, he said no and didn’t bale on the the 2 DL he put in 1st & 2nd rd this past draft. This year they gone and CBK made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. He and CBK, Baker etc will right the ship just not in this year’s portal obviously.

Now tell me what high school players he should have went after, because he did exactly what you are saying he should have done by closing with Reliford, Jackson and Dom, all highly sought after DLineman.

Maybe but the market usually corrects itself, especially when it comes to players being overvalued

We might as well get used to it....biggest bag wins, unless a state school or a woman is involved. Then it is only 75% bag money.

that’s bullshite.

you buy a shitty house because the market is terrible you’re left with a shitty house.

If you’re a manager paying 1st rounder money for a rotational DLmen and he doesn’t fix your problems then you’re going to have issues.

This might be the dumbest post in recruiting board history.

And that’s saying something.

Still a free market. Again, I don't think you understand what free market means

Cool. So explain how one would go about starting their own D1 football program to get in on the bidding since it’s a free market and all. With all due respect, you’re an idiot and anyone who thinks a pool of ~20 state owned institutions being funded by mega-rich donors bidding on a few individuals who suit their needs is indicative of actual market valuation is an idiot too.

The fact that NIL even has to be funded by people like Gordon McKernan in the first place instead of businesses making sound investments and expecting an actual ROI is all that anyone needs to see to know that these kids are artificially getting way above market value for their services.

Just to hammer the point home, just because the US military will pay $5,000 for a roll of duct tape doesn’t mean that the market value of a roll of duct tape is $5,000. Your thought process on this is wrong

So would’ve spend over 1.5 million for a DL that had 2 assisted tackles total against the only two good teams he faced just because the market said so?

OU literally just had their other best DL leave and commit to Texas because of the absurd amount they gave Demonic Williams.

So yes other teams have this problem if you pay attention.

then I can tell you that you aren't worth much, if you can't understand the damage done to locker rooms by overpaying for subpar players...makes for bad chemistry.

Did you not watch the implosion at A&M?

This is going to happen. You aren't talking about high IQ individuals here that look at the big picture...there will be massive jealousy and chemistry issues...look no further than A&M.

Other teams do have a problem with it. LSU doesn't have a problem with it, because they don't do it.

In case you haven't noticed, LSU has been strong in player retention and recruit retention. Very few decommits, very few transfers, even fewer key transfers. and a solid culture.

In this era of the portal and NIL, team culture is extremely important, which is why Kelly and other coaches are stressing it more and more.

The idea that people are giving Kelly shite for this is silly.
