Cam Robinson and the Hootie Jones saga. Especially after the arrest at Forsythe Park. The "package deal" that Saban got to unwrap and keep the one he wanted.

I loved when people think Vol was an insider

The best was when another poster got in a thread and told us all exactly what Vol was gonna say (copying material he paid for off another site) and Vol showed up to do just that later on in the thread

My Gunner Kiel thread. Still the longest thread in Recruiting Board history.

The Harold Perkins A&M saga was pretty interesting to say the least. The good guys prevailed in the end but that was a sweat.

I remember following the board for all of the Clifton Garrett updates. I personally wanted him in P&G, as much as any other recruit ever.

What a nothing burger he was.

Lache Seastrunckt was another, but he had a decent career iirc

IK I'm showing my age with this one, but can someone explain this to me?

I always see this referenced; it seems like GOAT recruiting board lore

I was working at the LSU summer camp and outside coaching middle school RB's. Miles and Kragthorp came up and said "we need you to put a drill together for these guys we're trying to evaluate". I asked what wanted to see; cuts, pad level, explosion, reads, or anything else. They said "all of it". I came up with one crazy arse drill with step overs, ladders, read/cuts, and a finish.

The RB's in the drill were Seastrunckt, Blue, Spencer Ware, and Michael Dyer.

After the drill they sent the boys inside and came over looking at me and said "what do you think?" I was confused b/c I was going to ask them the same thing. My answer was, well whoever the kid is with dreads is the best. It was Ware. They said yeah we think so too. We're about to offer him. Blue was the second best of the bunch. Seastrunctk was crazy fast, but had a hard time changing directions and dropping his hips.

Leonard
Jamal adams
Gerald Willis
Speedy noil
....and one more I don't remember. Maybe something Brown?

The board was posting boosie gifs and salivating at the idea of going 5 for 5 on the 5 star targets we had in 2014 I believe.

It was super fun leading up to it, then the inevitable disappointment, only to be revealed later we got the best 2 out of the whole list so no harm done. I remember giving Texas a&m dudes what for on the sec rant for years every time speedy did something else stupid as frick

Tony Brown. The CB who went to Bama

They all committed live during the UA all American game if I recall correctly. After we missed on a few, the meltdown inevitably started and then a rumor was swirling that Fournette was going to Texas.

He later stated he was only considering LSU and Bama and knew he couldn’t go to Bama after his visit to Tuscaloosa

That's the one. I think he may have been 3rd best on the list when all was said and done cause the Willis dude ended up transferring from Miami. Not gonna look it up but I remember vaguely he had some issues, and Noil was basically cancer.

So 5 for 5 was a memorable time on the RB for me. The Sopsher barber saga was funny too.

Scratch that, I think the barber may have been the WR that won the heisman for Bama and got the last touchdown in their natty from Tua. Its mind bottling how I can remember most of those names and not his off the top of my head.

I think you're talking about DeVonta Smith. Didn't College Gameday or some other ESPN show have a feature on the barber? Once Smith and Sopsher headed to Alabama, I guess his influence was over.

Did Smith and Sopsher have the same barber? Thought maybe I'd mixed my Amite guys up.

Dude loved him some Bama cause they put a barber shop in their clubhouse

Was the recruiting board in existence when Joe McKnight committed to USC or was all that on the rant?

Definitely the biggest melt in the history of TD.

RIP Joe McKnight.
